Why are wheel spacers so effing expensive? Are they difficult to manufacture or does the relatively low demand keep prices high? (that makes no sense according to my limited knowledge of economics) Whats up?

it actually does cost quite a bit to make quality ones.there was a guy a while ago that owned a machine and made his own to see how the cost would be and he came to the conclusion that it wasn't worth making your own. -
Close manufacturing tolerances are the reason they are expensive, not the design or materials. 57.1 mm implies a + or - of .05 mm, or .002 inch. That's a tight tolerance, and it's got to be held over the OD of the hubcentric part, ID thereof, and the hole circle for the lug pattern. Pluss, the flatness and parallel tolerance of the mating surfaces is tight (no wobbly wheels)'89 325i track sloot

Yes, but seriously, it's fuckin' ART. When I got my custom made spacers, they were so pretty, then I took them out to the car and they fit perfect. Worth every penny.
PLUS, I had the extra bonus of not having wobbly wheels!! Does it get any better?Slicktop City!Comment
