I'm telling you, not a chance. The only way it would work is if you jacked up the rear end and ran super stiff rates. they're going to stick outside the fenders over an inch any way you look at it.

even 225 hoosiers on 15x8 rims are super wide. you're adding 50mm to that. running a 15x8 with a 275 isn't going to suddenly make the tread 50mm narrower.

it's highly unlikely you're competitive enough in a car that you still drive to work and the grocery store to need 275s, either. but if you don't want to listen, fine. why even ask when you've already made your decision..

I haven't made my decision. However, 275 on an 8" rim is NOT 50mm wider than 225 on an 8" rim. Mounted width varies depending on wheel size - that's why they list the size of the wheel that they measure it on.

no, but a 275 hoosier is wider than 275mm, and you aren't going to magically lose 2" of tire width on a narrow rim.

*shrug* I've run 275 hohos on an 8" rim before. They weren't that wide. Given that people are getting 245/40-17 hohos under the stock fenders, 275/35-15 doesn't seem as unreasonable to me as you make it out to be.

I guess the basic answer, though, is if I'm that interested in playing with it, no one else has really tried.

I understand that 13" wheels can fit in the rear, so I suppose 255/40-13 is an option in the back, with something else up front. That would actually be a hoot. Maximum speed of 70MPH in 3rd gear with a 3.73. Talk about lightning off the line if you can find traction.
