Man those look great. H&R sport springs and 205/40 tires and I think you`d be set. Just keep your tire pressure up to spec, i`m sure you`ll be fine

Thanks for the great comment. I knew putting on 215/45s would be pushing it, but I was hoping to get some advantage over the extra tread on the road. I've always had terrible traction on slick, wintery roads here in NY. I was trying to improve this problem with the Conti DWS and the 215 width.
Because the roads here are crap, I was concerned going below a 45 sidewall. So, that he me trying the 215/45. I think that rears are fine, I'm not so happy about the fronts. The slight rubbing aside (on the left wheel), the tires stick out more than I'd like and there'd be no way for me to do a future drop without a fender roll and possible pull. I'm not so sure I want to do that. I just got done putting on new fenders this past year. I've gotten suggestions going in all different directions. Right now, I'm leaning towards keeping the rears at 215/45 and swapping on 205/45 for the fronts. I'm not concerned with front/back tire rotation, since BMW doesn't recommend it anyway.sigpic

I don't really see why the width of the tire is such a problem. Am running 225-45 on 17's plus i have h&R sports. i have no rubbing issues since i rolled the fender and tapped in the bottom of the front wheel well.
this what mine look like:

Very nice looking wheel. Nice fit. I thought about tapping back the rear side of the front wheel-wells to clear up the slight rubbing. I might give it a try. I also noticed that my sway bar link on the front left was disconnected. It probably happened when I had my front left control arm replaced. I'm working on getting this back in place. The damn hardware is rusted on like a bitch. Curious that the front right tire doesn't rub, I'm wondering if the disconnected sway bar link is allowing the wheel to angle out that extra little bit when cutting the wheels full over to the left. I expect to have it reconnected tomorrow.sigpic
