    I'd do 8" in a 15 or 16. Run 225's in either size.

I like the look of that... 225-45-16 on a 8" with 0 offset
that looks good.. gives me 2" more on the lip side and doesn't
interfere with the suspension as it's the same back space as the stocker
and it doesn't look like it will change my ride height to much...
I've been using the link below

    http://www.willtheyfit.com/index.php?width=195&aspect=60&diameter=14&wheelwid th=6&offset=25&width2=225&aspect2=45&diameter2=16& wheelwidth2=8&offset2=0&Submit=Submit
and a 195-45-16 on 7" with 15 offset giving me a little stagger and tire stretch or even a 205

Now I just need to pick up some doner rims and get cutting...

On a 16x8 wheel you want to shoot for a offset of 20 to comfortably and easily fit 225/45s.

        Why?
20 offset pushes the wheel in, and I don't want any issue with the suspension / wheel rub. I'm willing to roll the fenders and have a little tyre stretch if needed...

Because 16x8 et 20 with a 225/45 fits with very little fender rolling (if any) and doesn't hit the strut housing. With the offset you are talking about you'll be doing more fender work than you want and your front will poke out a bunch.

Visual example. This is with 16x8 et0 and 195/45. rolled fenders as well.

            OK so...
            Front: 195-45-16 on 7" with 20 offset
            Rear: 225-45-16 on 8" with 20 offset
            ??????????
            this work?

              That will work.

If I was building them, I would make a square set of 16x8 et20 and run 225/45. That way it is still possible to rotate the tires.

Well I found a set of mini cooper steelie 16x5's and was thinking of picking them up
and cutting off the 5" hoop and welding on a much wider set..
This will make it easier to turn the hubring out..
I can make my own fixtures and stuff at work, as well as do all the welding..
If I do decide to do them I will post a build..
