You should look into Breyton GTS rims for the Mini. Not sure what you need to run them on an e30 but the are 17lbs for 18x8's. They do make 17's too.

That's exactly what im thinking now 2002maniac. Ill run stock brakes for the first season with hp+ pads and most likely get 15x8 with 225's

what do you guys think of the TRM C1's. 14.8 pounds in 15x8 and i can put the 225/45-15 hankook r-s3's on them.

I just noticed you don't want R-comps yet. In this case the stock brakes will be just fine for you.

255 is too tall for an e30. I bet 9 times out of 10 a 225/45/15 will be faster. Run stock brakes with good pads. When you eventually reach their limit, they'll fade and you'll have to sandbag to keep them alive. All this talk about spec e30 is irrelevant. They are slow and run skinny long lasting tires. My old 318is did 3.5 seconds faster than the 2009 qualifying se30 at miller. That's a ton! And with 120whp to boot. A properly setup m50 swapped car will destroy the stock brakes in no time.

So i got some insite from a local that races an e30 with an m50 and convinced me to stay 4 lug and run stock brakes with the car for now until i feel the need to upgrade.

For the first year with the car, i am planning for all the local autoX and Lapping days. Next year the goal will be to try time attack, so after this year i should have a good feel of what the car will need for next year.

I will also try to post a build thread for the car soon. right now its sitting stripped and gutted.. got lost of pictures to sort threw.

Have you ever driven a car with non-stock brakes? Or are you just talking out of hearsay?

I have had the opportunity to have experienced both types of brakes on e30s and e30 M3s. If YOU don't have the experience, then you keep quiet.

Our autox car, w/ over 300whp has stockers with porterfields- hot laps all day and never fades. And my personal street car has e30m3 calipers, with mintex extremes. The stock brakes are good, no need to prove me wrong- I can respect where youre coming from. When it comes to longevity of a full course, thats a different story. (But then there's the se30 cars that show up on open track days and do very well against cars that should be alot faster.) You said that huge brakes were overkill on our terribly underpowered e30's, not me ;)

spece30 runs stock and they do just fine.

They have stock brakes because the regulations begs for that. I wouldn't use this exemple as a way to demonstrate how good the stock brakes are. Even the e30 M3, which has 5 series brakes (way better than e30 stockies) had bigger fixed calipers brakes in racing. Anything is better than stock with the e30.
