    Sportmax lug bolt question

this is bugging the crap a out of me. I bought some xxr 002 (yes i know how everyone feels about these). hey they are cheap and i love cheap, and IMO i love the way they look. anyway, my question is this. Can i use my stock lug bolts to mount these? it says to use tuner style bolts, but i just threw mine on real quick just now and my stock bolts fit in the holes and everything is tight when i tighten them up. i have to use a smaller 17mm socket instead of my lug wrench, however. i just need to know if i have to buy tuner style lug bolts and if i do what size would i need to buy? i have searched and searched for days now with no prevail. any help would be greatly appreciated. :D

    Tuner style? WTF is that?

If you're not using spacers, the stock ones are fine.

tuner bolts have a skinnier head to fit into thinner holes.
if your stock bolts fit, then you should be fine, as long as its cone seat to cone seat, ball to ball seat.

are all cone seats the same angle? because my stock lugs are cone and the wheels are cones as well. ive had people on different forums tell me my wheels will fall off if i didnt use aftermarket lugs with after market wheels. but all the people saying stuff like that didnt know anything about the wheels i bought or about bmw's.

just run your stock lugs. hubcentric rings are a good idea as well.

Didn't feel like cluttering the forum with another thread, so here's my xxr question:

Why do you recommend using hub rings if the xxr 002 16x8 comes with the 57.1 hub size? It says direct e30 fitment... And OP, have you had any issues running your stock lugs?

i dont think your stock bolts will fit
if these rims aren't primarly drilled for 4x100 then the primary would be 4x114.3 (or something) then the 4x100 bolt holes will be smaller, not fitting your sock bolts

                you gett what im sayin

Those posts are old, I just bumped an old thread as to not clutter up more space with a relatively simple question :(

hub bore of 002's are 73.1 not 57.1

stock lugs are fine. our cars use 17mm bolts. most Japanese cars have 13/16" and 7/8" lugs which are bigger, thus requiring smaller "tuner lugs" so you can fit a socket in there.

The stock bolts will fit, you'll just need a thinner socket to tighten/torque them

Well, I bought some sportmax 501, so I thought I'd share this pic of how our stock e30 lugs fit into the bolt holes.

As you can see, it is pretty close, and with a 17mm socket it will fit. However, unless the socket is very tall, you may need an adapter so you can fit your socket wrench properly to tighten them. (My socket wrench is pretty short in length, but the end of it still touches the lip of the rim when I want to tighten them)

did you have to get a hubcentric ring for 501's? and do you have pics of them on your car?
