Wow that looks pretty nice! So those are et23 style 5's?

I love the finish on your wheels.

I've been weighing this for about 2 years for my 88 and i'm going with the adpters from 8380 (draft 42) 18mm front 20mm rear finished offset +5 and +3. I took a few shots of a car at the "Vintage" running this set up and will try to post those tomorrow.
This looks like the best set up and in my opinion the safest.

I would definitely prefer this method because I like the look of the wheels capless and with adapter you can run capless with out the funky looking redrill.

I love my filled and drilled style 5's!

Currently running a 205/50 with 8mm spacer up front. Soon to have 225/45's and will then explore how to get away with a smaller spacer in the front if possible.

im running et5 16x8s in the front. 205/45 tyre. and sitting low they make it under the gaurds. just. with some camber plates to pull camber in they would fit even better.

I run filled + drilled 16x8 Style 5's with very small (5mm) spacers, 205/45/16 595 RS-R's (they run as 215mm wide). They fit fine and look amazing. Pretty low too.

I did a little testing with the idea and you would be able to use an adapter but you would need something like a 205/40-205/45 tire. I put a 20mm spacer on the front of a car with a redrilled style 5 on 205/40s and it was just about flush if not a little sunk in. A little camber always helps too though.

i really wanted to run these too. they are the best style 5 rim that bmw has made so far, if you ask me. decided against it for the above reasons, and went with e36 offset wheels instead.

just to play devil's advocate, 16x8 et5 in the front would be very easy to pull off with adapters and the right tires. i wouldn't say it's quite as cut and dry as some of you are making it seem.

full suspension swap for a single set of wheels? well considering the likelihood and cost of finding an e30 m3 5-lug setup, you'll be using e36 stuff, which has a wider track and you'll end up sitting pretty close to the same as the wheels with 18mm adapters.

redrill? i've seen some of the redrills on style 5s and they are terribly confidence inspiring. cost wise it will be close and you'll be able to get them to sit further in, but i've never thought these wheels were great candidates for a safe redrill.
