    16x9 fitment

I have a 1987 325 convettible and a set of Borbet Type S. 16x9 ET20, 4x100. I got 2 new tires with the wheels purchase. The tire size is 215/40/16. I went to a wheel shop and they said I need to run 225/40/16. Will they rub? and will they clear? Thanks in advance for any and all help... Im gonna be.running spacers in rear.

What, are they afraid to stretch the tire? That's a common size for the stance game.

ET 20 with those might be ok.

im running a 16x9 ET 13 in the front with a 215/40 and its perfectly fine (light roll)

they are probably afraid to mount a stretched tire, tell them to sack up.

No my fenders are not rolled. The guy at the custom wheel shop was like you can only use up to a 8.5 inch wheel with that tire... I know you can stretch them but I figured they do it everyday there and he was like get a wider tire.. its about 10mm more with a 225 how much play do you guys have with the 215's? The car is on h&r race springs. Should I go with a 225/40 on the rear and mount 215/40's on the front? I don't know wtf I am doing here. This is definitely not my area of expertise. Thanks again. Who mounted your tires?

              On Borbet Type A's (7.5x16F, 9x16R) I can run 215/45/16F, 225/45/16R with rolled fenders on GC's.

215's on the rear (what I had before) where a bit much on the stretch for me. I wish I could find/stuff 235's in the rear but, 40 series are a tad under sized (IMO)

I am jealous of your borbet type s's... I have a set, but not the same offset and size. Anyway, I have another set of wheels that are 16x9 with 215/45 on them, they arent even stretched that much. And also, you will have to run spacers in the front as well. You can only fit up to et13 in the front without rubbing the strut housing(depending on suspension). Also, what suspension are you running and spring rate? That will effect how much you need to roll or pull or whatever it may be as well as how low you are. But I'd say you will be fine with 215/40 in the front. Maybe for 215/45 in the rear. All depending on how much stretch you want and such.

Kinda wish I bought these before you. Oh well. Still have a set.... or we can trade and you can run 16x7.5 up front and give me two of the 16x9s.... that way you wont have to run spacers or stretch the fenders like crazy.
