    ESM rubbing

got a 16' ESM all around
rims are 16X8, tires are TOYO 205/55R16 R1R
after all installed - they rub. especially the rear - the tire touches the wheel arch.
    any ideas?

How will that fix it if he is already touching. Rolling the fenders and maybe a little bit of negative camber will help.

          forgot to tell
the car is 40mm dropped on the front
and 60mm dropped on the rear (or is it the other way around?)
          its a KW spring set.

i thought about shaving the wheel hub (rim side) about 2-3mm.
i guess it'll weaken the rim. but is it oh-so-bad?
i rather not roll my fenders.

          oh
another thing - i also found that on the front the tire rubbs the inner plastic cover (front bumper side, in the middle) if i turn the steering wheel to any side.

Did you get one of the stupid offset versions? Also, 205/55 isn't really the right size.

You need a 45 tire, and don't be stupid just have someone(expert) roll the fenders. It will be much safer than shaving the integrity of the wheel hub.

i didnt want to go on a 45 tire as im running with a 4.10 LSD and getrag 240 from a 316i (which is a very close and very high ratio gearbox anyway)

so i rather increase the wheel circ. a little but i thought i have enough space to do so.

originall the car came with 195/65R14 and according to this calculator i was expecting none of this to happen

Well then, have a lot of fun with the rubbing, right now you're trying to re-write "form over function".

Pictures might be able to help us see, what you're talking about also. Have you checked the wheel fitment thread by MYSTICAL?

Not, if it's going to give you problems, that you are affraid to deal with. ;)

                            I thought ESM were 16x7.5 or 16x9?

Im with everyone else. 205/55 is huge. 205/45 might be better. Some tires run narrower than others too. I run the Falken Ziex 512. its a bit more narrow.

well. the tires are on the car, and i already drove them about 30miles, so i guess no one will take them back anymore.
i will try to roll the fenders a little - i will find out about that tomorrow.

pics are not as nice as i expected - light was pretty dim when i came out

i hope you can see there -
in the rear the tire got nice grind and the front looks very crowded...
