jlines for the 318is instead of the ix.

well i have yet to recieve my refund and going over my finances i can still afford the jlines and the new car. But i plan on keeping the stock 15's on the ix and rocking some wheels on the 318 ( i have pretty big plans for this car).

the jlines come in 16x8 and 16x9.5 w/ a step lip like the bbs rs have. i wanna run the 16x8 up front but can i fit the 9.5 in the back, how much work will it take. obviously stiff suspension and some fender rolling but can i fit them.

i know this will change the handling of the car some, but how much. I don't see it being a track car, maybe some autocross though.

i need help w/ offsets and also maybe some backspacing up front to leave room for big brakes. and obviously i need the rear wheel offset also.

ET3 or lower. Yeah, I'm not exaggerating at all. Even with ET3 you'll be directly next to the strut (minimal clearance). ET0 would be ideal.

Basically, don't do it. The biggest tire you'll get away with is 245/35/17 anyways (anything wider is too tall), so an 8.5" wheel on the back is all you'd need. If you wanna do it for show and have a bare rim sticking 2" past the fender and like an inch off the ground (you'll probably bend them within a year), go right ahead. But if you wanna drive the car hard at all, get 8" wheels all around and wrap them in 245/35/17's.

Oh, and ET22 will do it for the 17x8's all around if you wanna run 215's, ET15 for 245/35/17. Both of those are "safe" numbers, you could go numerically higher but those will leave a decent amount of clearance and keep me from getting yelled at.

so et 15 for the 16x8 or 17x8. i sort of want to go 16 as it seems much more practical and with the 318 i don't want to rob too much power w/ big wheels.

so let me ask you this. if you were getting a 16x8 wheel what offset would you choose. I wanna go as aggressive as possible without having huge problems with poking or fenders (i will roll them).

16 or 17 inch do you think? i like 17's but i can't ever make up my damn mind.

Sorry man, I just remembered your 17" order of the same wheels for the iX and glossed over the 16" part here.

If you're going with 16's, things get a bit more hairy. The next tire up from 225/45/16 is 245/45/16, which is huge. You'll rub everything with those. Therefore I vote DEFINATELY stay with 16x8's all around, with 225/45/16, and ET22. ET22 is the highest you can go without rubbing the strut so it's attempting to keep your fenders from occupying the same space in reality as your tire. You could go lower with offset if you want to really push it. But I'll tell you right now, 8" wide wheels with 225's fill the fenders quite nicely, there's really no need to artifically widen them with offset.

so in your first post you actually meant 235/35/17 correct? the lower the offset the more though. Lip is pretty.

No 235/35/17 tires around last time I checked. I meant 245/35.

wow 245 is a lot of tire, probably more than i need. Nice to know it can be accomodated though. 225/45 is probably better for me and should provide decent traction.

so et 15 is the highest offset i should go with but et 22 is better? I want the most aggressive offest i can have without serious issues.

If you want to use 225's, you can run ET22 or lower.

OT: But you are still running the Reiger kit on the iX? Put the JLines on that!

Let's drive fast and have fun.

i've been planning to take that off for a while. I just need someone to buy it. i've started to like the 15 inch weaves on it. i want stock bumpers w/ an is lip for the ix.

i'll probably just mostly mod the 318is now and engine swap it when the funds allow me too. I am tired of the awd limitations. It gets annoying because you can only have so much hp and so many suspension options and even then stuff is still breaking and wearing faster than normal.

i can't decide between 16 and 17. i have 215/40 r17 tires sitting in my basement which would fit nicely until i have (probably a while) enough power to require more rubber. I am just not sure if 16 or 17 is the wisest choice. I'd like to have an s5x powered e30 at some point, is the 245 going to be that much more advantageous to have over the 225 on a 16 inch rim? Looking for max performance which includes a possibly addition of brakes at some point. It sucks trying to be smart with money....

Get the 16's for now, 17's are absolutely foolish on a stock motor E30. A 225/45/16 Hankook R-S2 will be more than enough traction for now, and probably just enough for a 240hp+ E30. If not, then when the time comes sell the Jlines and get new wheels.

cool, if i order them i think i will go 16. I can't seem to get ahold of the guy again and i am sort of tired of dealing with this place. Its the only reason i may not order them they have been dicking around w/ this for a long time. It took a long time to order and even longer to communicate about the refund.
