    Another Rim Restoration Project Hartge

A friend called me yesterday and said he found some rims on Craigslist so last night we took a little road trip. I ended up negotiating a fair price and now all I have to do is to get them refinished and then mounted on the Mtech. This won't be a very fast project because I have to save up some nickels to afford to have them refinished. These have always been my favorite rims and it has taken a long time to find some that I could afford.

Very cool Matt, I would have bought a set of those if these had not fallen into my lap. I just got lucky this time and was turned on to these. We got to the sellers house at 9:00 last night. Didn't get home till way after my bed time but it was worth it.

        Cheers,

              Thanks Rob and Mr. stroker,

They will be going up to OC for the refurb in a few weeks. Trying to see if I can widen the rears an inch for a little more meat on the ground without any more fender work. That would make the rears an ET13 and that created problems with the 15" BBS RS 001's. I am hoping the 17" wheels will be better fitment. I think a staggered set would look and handle better. I also have to check out one of the barrels due to a welding repair and make sure that the barrel is going to work or if it will have to be replaced.

              Cheers,

              Jim

During the past month I have been looking for a used set of 235/40/17 tires to do a test fit on the Mtech before I refinish the Hartge rims. I live in a small town and have made trips to the two tire shops every other week without any luck. A good friend of mine is building an E30 Alpina car and has some B-10's fit with 235/40/17 tires on the front which I borrowed to do the test fit.

This is the Alpina B10 8" rim with the 234/40

This is the Hartge 7 1/2" rim with the same tire

I have a little more bulge on the 7 1/2" rim which I like.

Either tomorrow or Saturday I will do the test fit and post up a few more pictures of the rims and tires on the car.

                Cheers,

                Jim

Those are sick dude. I have a set of 15's and i love them without the center caps. A set of 16" 3 piece are my dream wheel currently.

Thank you for your comment. Today a friend brought over some longer wheel bolts which were needed. I am happy with the fitment so they will go to get refinished in the next couple of weeks. Here are some pictures of the fitment with 235/40/17 Proxes.

                        Thanks Ian,

Now I have the Hartge bug. I just keep finding more cool parts to add to the girl. Now that I have read Matt's cool turbo build I think the Mtech needs that too give her a little kick in the butt. ;) Slowly but surly this build will get done.

                        Cheers,
