It was your concave versus convex comment in the last post that I just wanted to make sure they were the same, I was expecting them to be so anyway.

When ever you get word from the machine shop let me know via pm.

Sure, the originals were CNC'd to make these so they should be identical. I will PM you a price once the Machine Shop give me a quote on today's costs. Seeing that material costs could have changed I want to get a quote from them that is current.

    Cheers,

    Jim

    Thanks for the input Jack!

Today I discussed the 16" wheels with a few friends that are also into Hartge wheels. It seems that Hartge made 16" three piece wheels for the German market but in Japan they have something like our DOT here in the US. They did not want to have 3 piece wheels in Japan due to safety regulations so the three piece wheels were welded to create a 2 piece wheel that met their regulations.

As far as the caps for the 16" wheels go, If you are interested I will contact the fabricator to verify the cost but I believe that we can get them made for less than you were quoted. For those interested please PM me and I can check on the final cost for these with the fabricator next week . Seeing that they are smaller than the 17" caps the Fabricator has the material in stock. The digital CNC design is done, as Jack has stated above, so it should be just a matter of getting him to produce them. They will be dished the same as the 17" wheels, concave versus convex.

    Cheers,

    Jim

Shameless plug... I'm getting caps made (130mm of the top of my head) up if anyone is interested?
There is already a pattern for them here in the US. In the photo note the 2 different size caps - the small one is a 130mm D for the 16" 3 piece & the larger one is the 147mm D for the 17 & 18" 3 piece wheels.

    The 130mm (smaller cap) on a 4 lug 3 piece 16"

Jim (Ironman E30) is the go too guy on these.

That's what i meant when I asked if the were 2 piece, as they do this to any 3 peice wheel, even rare BBS ones:hitler:

They kinda look like a three piece wheel. I had not heard that the one's from Japan were two piece but I am always learning new things about Hartge. There were lots of changes with their products.

As you well know, the search for, and then finding the hen's teeth is so rewarding my friend.

unlike bbs rs 003's they'll let brakes get a little exposure and color should go very well with my Delphin Metallic iC.
I had heard about, but have never seen the ones from Japan. I think that they are a later edition than the German one's but still vary rare. Your's need a little work, nothing major. That can be fixed to be made to look like new and should go well with the color of your car. Congratulations!!!

I agree the caps look different. Mine dish inwards and those look like they are dish outwards. The cap bolt looks different also but it is hard to see in the pictures.

BTW, There is someone that has already gone through the CNC process. I just got a set a couple of weeks ago because my plastic ones were going bad. If you have not paid to have the work done shoot me a PM and maybe I can hook you up or maybe he will respond if he see's your post.

I'm nearly 100% sure all the jap market wheels were 2 piece.
I hope that he finds that they can fill and machine down the lips to make them look great. Replacements could be hard to find. I will be interested to see if the Japanese wheels are 2 piece.

    Cheers,

    Jim
