    Aggressive all season tires?

Does anybody here know of an aggressive all season tire? I'm looking for a tire that is somewhere between a normal "all season" tire, and a full fledged snow tire.

Because honestly, I dont need snow tires for the 6-7 days per winter when we get heavy snow, but I would like to get through a couple inches with relative ease compared to say, my summer tires.. So if I could find a decently aggressive tire with a longer lasting compound for the winter months, I'd be in heaven!

yes, I've tried searching google, but honestly yahoo answers isn't the best place for information..

Continental DWS. I literally couldn't tell a difference in snow performance between them and the Dunlop M3s in the same snow storm. (Drove out of the city to my parents' garage to swap, then immediately drove back. Was kind of annoyed.)

That said, the sidewalls are very, very soft.

The only tire I have experience with that seems to do "okay" is the Goodyear Assurance TripleTred All-Season.

My wife is an awful driver and we get a lot of snow. She daily drove her 318ti in Colorado winters with those tires. The car has basic traction control, no LSD. And they have a crazy high treadwear of over 700.

I have tried the Bridgestone G019 in an E46 with DSC which was alright, but DSC was doing nearly all the help and the BFG Traction T/A on my E30 with a LSD that was terribad.

i run my bridgestone blizzaks from december to march. no problem. they do get a bit squiggly above 60 degrees though. however, they're still pretty decent at that temp range.

Hankook Ipike winter tires last forever too. I swear in about 20k miles on my Jeep they haven't worn at all. And dirt cheap. That is another option if you are willing to run a winter tire.

I love my Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Plus's.. great marks across the board. I think they are an 80,000 mile warranty tire too.. they are awesome.

Thanks for the info guys! I'm also tossing around the idea of picking up some used snow tires on CL, I've seen a couple sets for around $200 with approx 70% life left, which is cheap enough that I could get away with just buying a used set every year :)

Vredstein Ultras (or however they are called) had them on in the wet on my E36 325i coupe and they felt like I was driving in dry, soo much grip! Then we had HEAVY snow fall, with LSD and these tires I had so much grip, I was the only BMW not spinning in circles!!!!! Never got to dry them in dry but I've heard amazing things about them! People are using them on their E46 M3's etc, best thing is they are a high range tire and in the mid range price zone :) HTH

Another one here for Conti DWS.....have them on my Z4M coupe and was passing SUVs in Kentucky snow storms....maybe not as bad as in the NE, but being from Buffalo, NY, I know a thing or two about driving in snow. I don't worry about rain/snow and plenty of traction for street driving!

Plan to upgrade my E30 to 16" wheels just so I can buy these tires and allow this vehicle to take over year round duties.

If you want killer winter tires...all I have to say is, "Green Diamond Tires."

This. I had iPikes on my previous car, ran them through 3 winters (We get close to 250 inches here on average) sand sold them with very minimal tire wear. I bought a set of General Altimax Arctic (pretty much identical tire) for my current car, and again they are incredible in the snow, showing no signs of wear.

another for the conti-DWS, I had the older model conti-extreme-contact's on my old ix and they were great. I currently want the Nokian WRG2 but they're a bit expensive.
Nokian Hakkapeliitta's are amazing winter tires too. Last year I beat a friend in a WRX with decent all seasons accross an intersection in 2" of fresh unplowed snow with my old Hakkapeliitta 1's on their last season. Also Nokian Nordman, which are older models of Hakkapeliitta's renamed.

Nsquared97, you like the General Altimax Arctic? I was looking into them because they're so cheap, but I've heard they're not good; the people that have said that had 175's tho which is to narrow in the first place. (I'm also looking at Hankook iPikes too)

Looking for a good all-year tire, then go with the Nokian WR. They are made to be an all weather tire and they are good to go all year. Excellent in the snow, quiet, good handling, next best thing to a snow tire that you can run all year. Act just like an all season tire in the summer. A little pricey but worth it, and you save on the costs of changing over. Have had 2 sets of them, great tire.
