    Painting basketweave centercaps?

I had my weaves sandblasted/powdercoated "snow cat gray" but need to paint the plastic portion of the centercaps. I have the touch up paint for the wheels and want to do a goo job painti g them "snow cat gray" like the wheels or black. However, I fear that if I don't do a good enough job painting them, they will. Hip the first time I go to use my BBS centercap wrench. I have some primer intended for plastic and wondered if this would be enough for the paint to adhere for the long term. I have considered gluing felt to the innerds of the wrench to minimize impact on the paint. I have not seen much info on painting the plastic portion of the centercaps - Any advice would be appreciated.

The wheels and caps in question:

why are you using a centercap tool? I've always just done it by hand. Just prime them and lay down a few coats of paint. You can always touch it up if it chips.
