    Rainy weather Tires

Any ideas on good, and/or economical tires for the PNW rainy weather? Especially with a E30 with a bit more HP?... Just curious, Thanks!

what size of wheels do you have?

I can give you consumer reports ratings but the tires might not be available in your size.

I have some falken 512 which are fine in rain on mine, but not good in snow at all.

I think it gets a lot colder in bellingham than where i am too.

2 sets of wheels available I believe 14x6 and 15x7. I was thinking tires would be- 205/60/14 and 15: 205/55/15...

I had Falken Ze-912s on my car for a while. They're fantastic in the rain. It's an all season, so they won't match summer tires for dry grip, but they still did pretty well in the dry. I ran 225/50/15s IIRC.

            They're okay.

They wear out kind of quick.

I hate reading reviews on tire rack etc... people have so may diff driving styles/ conditions. Except for the FEW ones where many people say the same thing- noisy or wear fast.

912's wear fast. 912's wear fast. 912's wear fast.

I haven't learned my lesson and have bought 3 sets so far. Good price, but 912's wear fast.

from discount tires theres the hankook optimo.

It has worse dry numbers but better snow numbers

they are actually different categories in consumer reports. It is an actual all season tire just normal. It lasts much longer.

falken 912s are a performance season tire

Both are stars in their category, best buys.

for 15 inch wheels theres a lot more choices.

I have some falken 512s I made it throguh portlands spring and summer with last year, they work great in rain but do not last at all.

Both falken models are ranked full black by consumer reports for wear.

I had a honda S2000 this past summer and it had terrible wet traction. I ended up trying Continental Extreme Contact DW. They gave me great wet traction while only giving up a little dry traction. Not sure if there available in your sizes, but may be worth checking out.

are these for summer or winter? in bellingham, even though it's the PNW - you can get away with a pretty agressive tire during the summer. I ran Toyo R888s the past 3 summers, they did fine in the rain (just do the speed limit if it's raining?). In the winter I run snow tires.. we don't get a ton of snow, but we do get black ice pretty often. And they tend to have good hydroplane resistance.

i don't really know what to reccomend in 205/55-15 unfortunately since the choices are getting fewer and fewer. the falkens are decent for the price but as noted, the life isn't very good. I'd put money on Toyo R-DOTs lasting longer..

                            all year tire

I was thinking mostly nice weather tire.... But if I wanted to head out in the rain, something that would hold better than pure summer tires...

hopefully youll tires will last longer than the ones on my 240, i've gone through 3 sets of rear tires, just from daily driving... its not an alignment issue they wear out evenly..gotta loosen up the rear end suspension. The Hankooks,Kuhmos, and Continentals didn't stand a chance.
