I really want 205/60 tires at a reasonable price!!!

I've been flipping through tons of pages on the interbutts looking for a decent priced set of 205/60R14 tires for my E30iS. Its got the stock weaves.

I've got Yoko 195/60R14s and they've done OK, but I remember when my car had the 205s and I liked the way it handled much better, as well as looked.

Who makes a set of tires in 205/60/R14 for a decent price (around 400)?
Looking on Tirerack the only tires that come in this size are racing tires, if I bump it up to 205/70/R14 then I come up with the BFGoodriches, Should I just go ahead and pull the trigger on these?

I've noticed a lot of rave about the Falken 512s, apparently these are now known as 912s now. I found a set of 512s in the right size, but I'm a bit leery of this seeing as how they were supposedly discontinued by now.

I don't want to spend much more than 100 dollars a tire.

I've been looking for a good set of 205/60r14's too, and the options are few, the only thing that looks interesting were these: Federal Tires 595, and they sell about $60 a pop here.

there isnt a whole lot in that size. might want to use this opportunity to upgrade rims and tires at the same time. good tires are a lot easier to come by in 15 and 16".

^ I saw that earlier, is discount tire a safe place to buy from?

I would love to upgrade to bigger wheels but I'm your average college student. I need the tires now and can't trade my wheels towards a new set.

I only buy from discount locally. I run the 512 on 2 of our cars. Love it. They run narrow though.

I will say that one of my 512s blew up. I heard a noise for a minute and then it was gone on the freeway.

That does not fall under their warranty...I had to buy a completely new one.

You would think a warranty covers a tire that has like 2k miles on it from blowing up. It doesnt...

what is cool is I drove over a few miles on the bottle cap and didnt bend it. Very tough wheel.

It's still round on the balancer?

Sorry I disappeared for a bit guys,

I went ahead and ordered the 512s, they should be here and on the car by saturday, I'll post back and let everybody know how they are.

@PNWDan, What do you mean they "run narrow"? I ordered them in 205/60, which I admit isn't a fat tire by any means, but is wider than what I've got on now, 195/60.

yes it is still round, still balanced. Took it to them and told them to check. not a scratch on it it still had remnants of tire between it and the road.

every other wheel ive ever done that on was ruined. I stopped though and didnt give up. but the tire blew up on the freeway in the middle of the 405 downtown portland, basically miles from a place to even change a tire. I had to cross the williamette on an overpass lol.

oh man and if you do know the situation, those lug bolts were tight in there i remember jumping off the hood onto the lug wrench
