Neither do you know. Nor have you done an HPDE, nor probably truly understand them. And until you do, you really can't argue because you have a perspective of being below the counter and trying to talk about what is ontop of it. You just can't see it clear enough to argue.

The first n00b to have 205s left him down, have them post up..... Either they need to be smoother, or have a car overbuilt for them at their level.... is what I see as most common reasons.

    I'll be waiting.....

Still off base. But this is a fight without end anyways.

      I'm done.

Okay. I'll PM this to you too incase you ended subscription because of the bullshit Jay started...

Start on just some bottlecaps or basketweaves and some good tires. You just need to get out there so you can start to understand what it really is. There are too many misconceptions by people that you need to have 16's, or 225s, to do a HPDE. Just start out with 195s. And stick with them until you have a NEED (i.e. greasy tires). And don't mod your car until you have a NEED, like brakes fading, etc.

Too many people just rush into HPDEs and build their cars uber fast but never learn to actually improve themselves very much. It's the easy route to buy shit to make the car faster. It's better to improve the driver instead with more seat time.

Buy some spare basketweaves and run 195s if you can. Or get the cheaper 15x7 Koseis and 205-50-15s. The money you save vs. the 16's you can afford more track time.

If you don't believe me, ask DaveCN, he is of good understanding. Don't talk to Skafrog, he is under peer pressure to have a faster car, and suffers a FUH RAZE car daily. Be like Charlie.

I'm not swapping spring rates, removing my A/C or stripping my interior, putting on R compounds, installing a M50....am I?

I fix problems as I run into them.

195s weren't up to the job (greasy as hell 10 minutes in).
seat's frame was weak and i leaned in the corners.....so I replaced it (was looking for a stock replacement too to begin with)
my wheel bearing was "upgraded" if a new one is considered a modification from bad one

I don't plan on changing up my car anymore and just doing more and more sessions. and having instructors who actually talk push me and criticize me as much as possible. it helps one of my friends is an instructor / TT driver.

so I do Pasha. thanks for loving concern though

Just curious... how many track day(s) does it take to become a self-proclaimed track day 'guru' like yourself?

When did I proclaim I was a guru Todd?

Even Dave with just one has the ability to understand and listen to people who are in the know (people like mario, charlie, the instructors at the events), and ignore the people who are operating solely on misconceptions (I need a stripped interior and 245s!!!1). And also is able to attempt to pass on such thinking to people who don't understand yet. Once you get into the mindset and understanding, for most the people I know, it just "clicks". I've talked with Stu, and there's a definite shift of thought once he's been enlighted by a HPDE experience.

What's your problem? You SD nerds sit around and complain about that Heeter guy?

Holy shit...get back on topic. it's funny at first...someone needs to back down! LOL

In my opinion, get the 15's, since they're cheaper. That's just me. If I could afford 16s, I'd do that. 15's may be lighter too.

                          var1ant,

If you are going to do track events, I'd recommend getting the 205s on 15s. Unless you have some Schumacher like inate talents, you probably as a driver won't be faster than these tires can take you, at least not unitl they are about worn out from several weekends.

I just picked up 225/50-16s and I doubt I will use them at the track for now, and will instead run my 195 Azenis until I reach the point that they are coming up short. Also, the 195s ARE cheaper to replace, as are the basketweave wheels in case any off track incidents should occur.

Do what you want to do here. The larger wheels and tires won't hurt, just know that you may be spending more than you and your skills require.

Oh, and I'm certainly no expert. Just my humble opinion. Consider it and the others you read here, or none of them if you want. ;)

Yea, that's a good idea. I'd probably do that instead (my plan all along, actually.)
