My wheels refinishing thread. Style 5's

My buddy got some style 5's for his e90. They came in a gunmetal gray (spray bombed) He wanted the "stock" silver.

We stripped them down, sand blasted them, got them ready for powder coat, and I shot them with some powder. Here are some pics:

    Specs
    Front: 18x8 et20
    Rear: 18x9 et22

Powder coating color is PBTP standard silver.

    When he got them:

    New polished caps

    Stripped

I actually hacked the oven rack so it would slide into the oven without being tilted up.

    Blasted

    Powder being applied

    Being baked on there

    All done

    One wheel, done.

He didn't want a full polished lip, so he only took it as far as he wanted to.

    His words :giggle:
"After polish, nothing amazing but my patience for these is non existent."

All 4 wheels done with tires mounted

Baller wheels dude. However, the offset needs fine tuning to earn dope status.
And do i see a missing exhaust tip?

Nice. Adds a great touch to his car.
Makes it look less of a futuristic tin can to which what most newer BMW's are starting to look like.

          Thanks guys ;)

And yes, there is a missing tip. He somehow caught the looseness of the tip before it fell off... Weird you noticed that, I welded it back on right after I took those pics!

I think the darker center, mirror lips with the gold bolts would have looked better imo. Still clean though.

I have damn near everything you have. Lol. Same harbor freight cabinet, same eastwood hot coat gun, same polished hex caps, etc. What media are you using? The glass bead and aluminum oxide I have take to long. Also what size bolts did you guys use. I hear you should drill out the holes to 8mm because the 7s don't fit as snug as they should because of the factory bolt design

Ballin on a budget, right?? ;)

He stripped the wheels almost completely with paint stripper before we blasted them. We started out blasting the paint off but we would have been there all day and night. So the wheels just got a quick blast before being painted.

I have no idea what size bolts they are. All I know is they are made for RS's, lol.

I know people do it but I hear its not reccomended to use the RS bolts in these as they are different sizes.

Also, I seen a thread where a guy converted to RS style cap nuts but it required modifing the wheel center and making a threaded adapter. I see no center modification though. Whats the plan?
