Solution to Basketweave Brake Dust???

Yup, those covers "can" cause overheating ... if you drive hard. But why bother ... Ceramic pads are great - and zero dust!

Sup guy, I know everyone hates cleaning their stock Basketweaves, as it is a annoying task to do. My dad told me about these brake dust covers, he used to install on e30s for their Basketweaves to protect from brake dust and I found them online recently....anybody try them before? What you need is a good wheel cleaning brush for general use. Every once in a while, I use Meguiar's Wheel Brightener to clean off anything that is sticking (this stuff works magic, but it is HIGHLY TOXIC - the active ingredient is ammonium bi-fluoride. Also, don't even think about using it on bare aluminum wheels).

Umm...no it won't unless you're using the strongest degreaser you can get your hands on without diluting it.

I will say that the oem paint is near bullet proof but a harsh degreaser will eat it up as the brake dust does.

Brake dust shields can lead to overheated brakes during spirited driving.

Just find a less dusty pad, or clean your wheels more often. I clean my wheels more often and keep them waxed, which helps keep the dust from sticking in the first place.

dont ceramic brake pads have issues for street use? as in they require a warm up?

My e30 is my daily and I drive on the exact pads 60 miles a day.
Had them in for a year now. Ceramics just need a good break in.

I can go for weeks without having to wash my wheels.
