F3AR - those look great. PS. I am also trying to get a little ground clearance without having to have a whole lot of wheel gap. I am about halfway down on GC coils 550f/750r.

The fact that I have personal experience with two sets - one on my E39 and one on my E30. I got about 20k of daily driving out of the E39's set.

I had a set of S.Drives on a previous car. They were great for the first half of their life but not so much in the second. That and they got noisier as they wore - and they weren't that quiet to begin with. The DWs on the E39 (a heavier car than the one shod with the Yokos) were easily the best tire I've ever owned up until the day I had to replace them.

thanks this is exactly the sort of responses I was hoping to get. I am only mildly happy with my yokos and threw them in to the comparison because they fit the price range.

Same specs as mine but I have shortened and valved housing/inserts. I can fit my business card in between the top tread and fender.

So you're looking to run sticky as hell tires for a daily? The BFG KDW2 would be best of both worlds. But I think it is more than you're willing to spend. You just said you're not tracking that much. So the KDW2 would be a great tire if you're willing to spend the little more for those.

The Yoko S.Drives are good till they wear down a bit. Not the best one to run IMO, granted they are cheap...so is the performance/wear and they are loud. I used to have a set on my OZ weaves 14x7

Edit: A mod needs to move this to the tire and wheel section.

              My next sets are:

              Daily: BFG G-Sport comp 2
              215/40/17(Front) 235/40/17(rear)

              Track: Toyo RA-1
              15x8/15x9
              225/50 square

I like to drive aggressively. I built the car to do autoX on the weekends. But then life came around and kicked me in the ass. However I am at the point that my tires are unsafe. Ya KDW2 are a bit on the pricy side. I just wonder if they are worth the extra change on top any of the other UTQG 250-300 spec tires.

Worth every bit the extra, read the reviews online. Never seen them score low. They handle great in dry and wet, and not loud all the way down to the threads. I was going to get those before opting for the G-force sport Comp 2 because of the higher wear life. I am going with the RA-1 for track use, I just wanted a nice high performance tire for daily use that will get me more than 50k out of them. The Toyos will destroy the track so that is what I am doing for meats.

                  good luck

143 per tire, only 5.00 more than the Star Specs and free shipping from that site(only place I buy)

I would suggest going a 225/45/16 square setup vs the 50 ratio in the rear. You have coilovers and the Rotas have a nice flush et20 fitment. as you can see from my picture I posted above.

Also remember you want to stay in a good area of stock combo(590-610mm total wheel/tire height)195/60(5)/14
225/45/16 will put you roughly 608mm

225/50/16 will be very tall(632mm) almost 4mph faster reading and over an 1" taller than stock fitment vs going the 45 route.

I was planning a 50 ratio tire square setup. In your picture were you running -50 at every corner? Do you have a side pic?

So I guess it comes down to cost. I can have the KDW for $572 + mounting vs the V12s for $331+ mounting Thats almost double the price.

                          I posted sizing/speed specs above^^

Reason they are double the price is: amazing tire vs shitty low entry tire. Up to you completely

This is before I shortened the housings and swapped for valved inserts. The 225/50 rub really REALLY bad in the front. I had to cut the front wheel tub corner just so I could turn my wheels. another reason to go with the 45 ratio. Also they rub on my coil adjuster nut.

That is why a few above mentioned staying in the stock specs. 225/45/16 will keep you in the stock fitment ratios. 50s cause rubbing.

that does look rather meaty. I am surprised your rubbed. I have my fenders pulled pretty damn far (almost like arches now) both front and back. What is a wheel tub?

                            Also spec on those sways?

Fenders are not bad, I am rubbing on the inner body of the car when I turn the wheels. Those fenders in the front are rolled and pulled after I mounted to get more clearance.

See my last picture? follow the tub well down to where the sqwiggle lines are. See the screw tab that mounts the inner mud cover? that is where I am rubbing. Sawzall and a welder fixed that but I am doing it right this time with 235/40/17 (620mm) vs the Rota's: 632mm

hmm. Ya the car is fully built and I am not scared of modifying stuff, but cutting apart the body is not on my to do list. I guess i will have to spend the extra cash in the end.
