Congrats! I think you'll be quite pleased with those tires, especially if you DD the car.

6 years is the legal age that tires can be on the shelf and after that the tires would be illegal to sell because they may be compromised. i always check the dates on my tires before i buy them

I've crossed the Pacific Hwy border crossing 100's of times, mostly in Canadian plated cars but a good deal in US cars and yes, the Canadian Guards are far more relaxed.

However, they are trained and do spot stuff so sure you can likely get away without saying anything..but if its legal why would you ?

They know before you get to the window who you are, how long you've been gone and in some cases what you bought. Each at their own peril.

Im selling a camaro right now with tires that say 02
nitto top performance. slight leak in a couple of them though its true.

like only 10% wear look great.

Are you saying they are unsafe or just that they couldnt be sold as new?

They def cannot be sold as new or would not be sold by anyone who has liability concerns. As to whether they are unsafe is a little more nuanced. From an industry stand point "no" nor would I want my kid driving on them. I'm sure a couple of my cars are sitting on old tires since they have noticeable sidewall cracking, but they are either project or spare cars.

IMHO I would not want them on a DD for long as they are highly prone to delamination if stressed or run hot (as in on the hwy for long). Its really like an old timing belt only instead of costing you a cylinder head, it could be much worse.

As for your Camaro, it's caveat emptor.
