Ideal Size for Diamond Racing Steelies

I've been researching this for about 2 days and there are so many different answers that I'm confused!

My Car:
1991 vert, H&R cup kit and M3 offset control arm bushings

What I believe:
for a 16x8 rim, the ideal offsets would be +12(5" Backspacing) and +0(4.5" Backspacing)

With these fitments, I would have to grind down my caliper bracket and they would fit fine and flush.

I don't want to destroy my fenders.

Questions
Is this the ideal fitment?

What is the best size tire to run (I don't want to stretch the shit out of my tire)

If I grind my bracket down I won't need a spacer correct?

You wont be able to get away with just grinding down your caliper bracket, you will need to completely cut it off if you want to run no spacers.

well just an update for those interested - I went with 16x8 +12 all around - 5 mm spacer up front - and had to grind my front caliper brackets. They sit pretty flush, and the fronts poke out a TINY bit, hardly noticeable.

If you want to run no spacer than they need to be cut off, If your running a 5mm spacer you'll only have to grind maybe like 5mm off the brackets.

Maybe I'm missing something but how can this be ground completely off and you still have brakes?

The caliper is attatched to the back with 2 bolts. The part that needs to be ground off is the "[" shaped reinforcement on the front.

Heres a pic. The red part I boxed is what is cut off

Crazy stuff, I don't think I could bring myself to cut that off. I would consider grinding it down. Can't you just use larger spacers? Toss some flares on and go nuts.

you're most likely still going to have to grind a little bit even with 10mm

You didn't but it was suggested. I was curious where the grinding was happening.

I believe 12mm is the minimum size spacer you can run without doing any grinding.
