Need new tires to fill fender gap - sizes?

My current set up is Apex 60/40mm springs with 1.25 coils cut off up front, billy sports, Rota Slipstreams 16x8 ET 20 with 205/40/16 tires. Before the front cut springs, it looked like such:

The tires have very little miles on them but they've been sitting on the car for a couple of years. They also have decent sized gouges in the sidewalls from the previous owner's fenders after going way too low. I'm looking to buy some new tires that'll fill that tire gap fully, or as fully as possible. I've never bought tires before, so I'm not sure what size I should be looking for.

I can provide better, post-cut spring pictures in about a week when I'm home from vacation.

    Thanks in advance

225/45/16 would be correct for 16" rims, so you are really undersized. You could also do 205/50 or 215/45 or 50 but those are uncommon sizes.

BFG KDW in 225/45-16 fills out the fenders nicely, and is correct diameter so your speedo won't be off like it is with your current tires.

      that's a clean sedan.

That's exactly what I'm looking for. I'm tired of this stretched-stance shit, I need some meaty tires!

A friend of mine has 205/55/16s in great shape that I can get for a steal. I know they'll still be stretched, but I figure it would fill out the fender gap almost completely. Thoughts?

Here is a great tire size comparer, just plug in what stock size was and what you are looking for and it will tell you how they match up.
