~6mm from IE would work well. If my math was right this time, it would be ET21 and have a clearance for me and my beloved tire .25mm greater than a ES100 on a Ronal.
Nooooow, it would be 2.75mm closer (or into) the fender though. (I think).
all this is assuming shit, and not exactly sure on how to do these calculations, and me bored in my cubicle with crazy people yapping in the backgroundComment

Remember this Robert, you gain more clearance against the strut with the tire, since it is farther from the hub and slants inwards. Doesn't affect anything for fender, unless you have a lot of camber dialed in.
Ideally 17" wheels with 255/40's would be awesome, but would require either massaged fenders or 4x4 height.Comment

Whuddup.
You guys covered a lot of ground here, I just have one key concept to get across.
See how it really doesn't seem to make sense that a specific tire on a 15x7 ET27 wheel will rub while the exact same tire will work on a 15x8 ET22? That the 15x8 wheel is A LOT closer to the strut yet there is no rubbing?
It's because the width of the tire does not change significantly between these two scenarios. When you're considering two different wheels that are well within the range of that tire, it's really only the offset you should care about. If a 15x8 wheel will fit bare, then any 225 tire will. The tire is not wide enough to protrude past the wheel.
Anyways, in a pinch 3mm spacers are cheap. My shop had them in stock (the only size they carry) and charged me $20 for a pair when my 17x7.5 ET27 RS' touched the caliper.Comment

Tire width.
Tirerack's site has the section width and tread width for their tires under the "Specs" link. Select a tire and click "Specs" Under the selected tire are others.Comment

225/50/15's RS305's fit and 225/50/15 ES100's fit, with Ronals and euro weaves.
Why are you going up in wheel width? You dont need to.
My front fenders are not even rolled.
