Just got in my Dunlop Star Specs for my weaves. Repainting the wheels and will have new tires on tomorrow. Very excited for these highly rated tires.

Interesting thing is that I called several tire dealers in the area, both chains and locals (one local, Tucker Tire in Laguna Niguel, is a very high volume dealer for all of OC), and they said that they cannot get this tire at all. About 1 month ago they were able to give me a price on the tires, but I called back to order them and said they are not available. They called Dunlop directly and got the same message. Dont know how they cannot get their hands on this. Does Tire Rack have an exclusive on this tire for this size of wheel, 14"? I am going to bring my invoice in to them to see for themselves. BTW, Tucker's original price quote was cheaper than Tire Racks when install and shipping was factored in.

Bridgestone RE760's. LOVE them compared to the Goodyear Fierce's.

So I need 2 new tires and cant decide which size to go with. The car is lowered 2.5 up front and the same in the back except the back will be raised slightly. The tires are going to be for my rear axle. I am running stock basketweaves on my 1991 318is. I am looking for a meaty tire that isnt too expensive. Road noise isnt a concern as much as long as it doesnt sound like im riding on rim. Whats a good suggestion on size and brand?

Just installed Falken 512's on stock 'weaves in 205/60/14. Much better handling and response compared to my old dry-rotted generic tires in 195/65. I've heard bad things and good things about the Falkens but so far I'm happy (also after running the same tire make and size on my RX7).

            EDIT

Also, from DTD these bitches were only $288 shipped to my door. Can't complain about the price!

                  would 205 60 14 fit good on a basketweave?

Thats what I run. They look good and have a little less sidewall height. If you get a set of decent tires (Falken, Yoko) then they won't flex a lot like cheaper tires in 195/65. My old ones were generic cheapo tires and they didn't give much confidence at all in wet OR dry weather.

                    EDIT

                    Pic with 195/65-14 crap tires:

                    Pic with the ZE512's:

Hard to tell from two different angles I guess, but the tires fit nicely on stock 'weaves.

BTW, excuse how gross my car ATM. LOL

So, does anyone know if there are any 14" summer tires left? I'll have no choice but to replace my worn out ES100s (which don't suck, FYI), and since they don't make those anymore, I'd be buying old stock. The only tires I've found seem to be track/race tires, which I'd love to have, but I don't think it's such a great idea to DD track tires.

Are performance 14" tires done for? Do I just deal with it and buy D-forces and have some choice?

Don't know much about those. Feels wrong to loose section width (currently running 205s), but when I went from 215 all seasons to 205 summer only tires things were better.

                          Only options appear to be:
                          195/60/14 FALKEN Azenis RT-615K tire
                          or
                          195/65/14 FALKEN Ziex ZE-912 tire

Looking at treadwear, the 615K are probably a 'better' tire, as far as grip is concerned.

912s aren't TOO bad. But the Azenis are far superior as a summer only tire.

Then the azenis it is. I have nokians for the sub 45F weather.

Dunlop Direzza Z1 Sport Star Specs also come in 14". Much better tire than the Azenis with grip in both dry and wet and less likely to overheat (get greasy) when pushed. 195/60/14s are $100 each at Tire Rack but typically there is a rebate deal in the spring.
