    Spacer & Tire Size Question

I might be getting some 17x7 wheels REALLY cheap. What would be a good spacer...20mm? Also what size tire? 205/40/17? Does anyone know the website for the tire size calculator?

oh dear. how long have you been here? What's the offset, we can't help you until we know the offset.

I am not exactly sure the correct 17 inch tire size for our cars, but check out the FAQs for some nice tire calculators or search google for "miata tire calc". I know 16s are 205/50-16. Then that would be 205/45-17, but I know guys running 215/45-17 and 225/40-17, right?

cool...thats the site I was looking for...so 225/40/17 would be .4% too slow...spedo says 60 and actually 60.3...pretty good. is 225 too wide for a 7" wide rim?

haha sorry I ment to put the offset...42...that would help ;)

225 will fit on a 7" wide wheel. But you may have a problem with 20mm spacers, giving you et22 final offset. TJ runs 205s on a 16x7 et20 wheel, you may be able to get away with a 225 tire with the 20mm spacer - depending on the tire shape and how low you are. Roll your fenders and it would work, most likely. 15mm would definitely work with 225 tires with no alterations.

you will want a 15mm spacer for your wheels.
20mm will work if you don't want to run wide tires. They will rub once you get anything wide.

215/40-17 is a great size. Good luck finding any 225/40-17s. Only a couple campanies make that size.

Don't get any tire with a larger rolling diameter (like 215/45-17). It will rub and piss you off.
