Tire sidewall question

Looks like some rot. But in general, I've heard a hole in the sidewall is a dead tire, atleast that's what the tire place told me.

So would you classify this as a hole?

hit a pot hole with those tires at 50mph+ it will be a hole.

when in doubt, throw them out

they're dead. the rubber is rotted out. measured by either condition or age, they're done.
