    Spacer question

    The new wheels I'm ordering for my car are Mazda Miata fitment, so they're RWD, but the offset is +40mm. What size spacers will I need to fit them?

    25mm I would think
    ///Alpinweiß II 24v 91' 318is, Alpinweiß III 99' 323i, 04' Yamaha R6 SE for sale, 00' VW GTi, 83' El Camino BURNED, 01' P71sold, 92' Miatasold

      Not that big, I was thinking probably 15-20mm.

        how wide are the wheels? I think 7" wide wheels want a 25mm offset (dont quote me on that), so thats a 15mm spacer.

          They arent RWD.
          No wheel is specific to FWD or RWD.

          This topic is worthless without a wheel diameter and width.

          Its like asking... My car wont start, its blue.... what is wrong?

            Two in one day. Is there something in the water?

              So sorry, Chris. I thought it made a difference. Didn't mean to waste your time.

              They are 16x7.

                16x7...

                shoot for a net offset of 20-25mm

                so either 15 or 20mm spacers will be fine. Also, keep in mind what size tires you'll be running. Mine are 205 on a 15x7, and with unrolled lips (et20), they are almost at the fender lip.

                  How do you plan on accounting for the difference in center bore sizes?

                  54.1 = Miata
                  57.1 = E30

                    I've always been told that you could run Miata wheels on an E30. Is this not true? Will these wheels not fit on my car then?

                    And tires will be 205/50.

                      Miata centerbore is 54.1mm according to the info I found on google.
                      BMW E30 centerbore is 57.1mm.

                      Obviously, a miata wheel has a smaller centerbore, not allowing it to fully seat on the wheel hub/face. You'd need to either:
                      1) Machine the wheels to have the proper centerbore
                      2) Get custom spacers made
                      3) Buy other wheels.

                      FWIW, Honda Civic (1995 era) have ~56.9mm centerbore, hense why they can be used
                      The EM9's are offered in Civic offset, same pricing as Miata version in 16x7. Order those.

                          Chris, you forgot the fact that almost every aftermarket rim is some sort of universal fitment, and the center bore is probably at least 67mm on those rims. For instance, the Civics my rims were made for don't have a 67mm centerbore but the rims do in order to fit various cars. Hubcentric rings are the savior in this case.
