    WTB Mystery unicorn wheels

Sup bros, need some help with picking out a set of wheels. I've never been a big wheel guy - the switch is only due to necessity. Here's my basic info / what I need out of a set of wheels:

    1. Needs to be 17" in diameter

For two reasons: wider tires are significantly cheaper in 17's, also the brakes I'm getting need a 17" wheel to clear the caliper (330i brakes)

    2. Needs to be 9-10" wide, preferably 10"

Because 255's would look ridiculous on anything narrower. 255's may be a tid bit stretched on the 10" wheel, but I'd like the 10 just in case I ever pick up a set of 275 hoosiers.

    3. Maximum offset is 0 for the 9" wheel, -7 for a 9.5" wheel and -13 for the 10" wheel

With my current setup (16x8, 0 offset) my wheel has about an inch and a half left before touching the control arm (e46) at full lock. I've ordered a SLR angle kit, so I expect the gap to be significantly smaller after the install.

    4. Bolt pattern needs to be 5x120

Like I mentioned earlier, I'm gonna be rocking e46 brakes. I'm not doing this for overall braking performance; I want maximum braking torque, as I currently have stock brakes (sans booster). Brake cooling isn't the biggest issue for me as this is a drift/street car. Also, off-the-shelf parts availability is extremely important to me, as well as the massive price difference between piecing together the e46 brakes vs buying a bbk.

    5. Spacers aren't really an option

Unless wheels with a reasonable offset can be found. I find spacers over 1/2" thick to be sketchy and I would need something like a 1.5-2" spacer with most of the wheels I've seen so far.

    6. Yes, I really do need wide ass wheels and tires

Ok so maybe 235/245's might be more reasonable, but I'm tired of having a worthless 1st, 2nd and some of third gear. My setup puts down about 250ft/lbs of torque at 2k rpms, hits a peak of 320-30 ish at about 3.5k. While it is kind of neat to have the ability to immediately light up my 205's with almost zero effort, I would rather be able to put the power down and actually accelerate.

    7. I don't want to spend something crazy like $500 per wheel

Because in my mind spending $2k+ on wheels is just ridiculous. Wheel weight isn't the biggest issue for me; neither is fanciness. Ideally I'd like to spend less than $1k on the wheels, preferably much less.

Are there any companies like diamond racing wheels that make 17's? Because that's the only viable option I can think of that would fit my criteria. Any other ideas are appreciated

I wish you both luck, Im in the 4x100 boat. I need a 9in front and 10 rear.

Spacers really are not a bad option, Ive used them on a few vehicles without anyissues from e30s to lifted trucks.

Yeah, but over 1"? I don't know... feels kinda sketchy, you know? I'd need either a 1.5 or 2" spacer.

because nothing says racecar like 270lbs of wheel and tire ;)

no idea if these guys are even still in business, their website looks like it's from the 90's. I'll give them a call tomorrow and post an update.

            Bleh
Steelies are for winter tires lol
And 40lbs wheels are a big turn off.

I'd love to have custom wheels made so I don't need spacers

Yeah, while weight doesn't explicitly matter for you, heavy wheels will slow you down. Have you tried looking at E46 forums? They'll probably have something useful. Apex Arc8s are available up to 17x10.5 I think, so you might want to check those out too.

Wait, by "Maximum Offset" do you mean that you NEED an offset of -13 for a 17x10?

Yep. Otherwise the inner rim of the wheel will most likely hit my control arms at full lock.

Dude, you're asking a lot from a cheap, non-custom wheel.

Haha yeah I know. Came to terms with the fact that I'm going to have to use spacers last night, then decided I minus well get adapters to convert to 5x114. Found some xxr's in 17x9.75, looks like a 1.5" adapter/spacer will bring them out to where I need them... 2.4" widebody/flares ho!

I don't think diamond makes 17's, though that would be convenient if they did. I need the 330i brakes because I've got manual brakes and imo that shit sucks without a bbk.
