    falken azenis rt-615

I've been researching these tires for some time, and cross shopped the hankook r-s2... i finally decided to order up the azenis on saturday, and they'll be in this week. However, after ordering, all of a sudden a number of people have come out of the woodwork and told me the azenis are scary in the rain.

Can anyone qualitatively confirm or deny this? every review i've seen has them as excellent dry or wet, but the word-of-mouth as of late is rather to the contrary.

I have no problems switching my order to the r-s2s if they are in fact a better rain tire; I want great traction but realistically i drive the car every day, rain or shine.

does anyone with experience have any input for me? Thanks! :pimp:

Well the Azenis are high performance Summer tires. I've never heard any one say good things about their wet traction. I'm not so sure the Hankooks will be much better though. Most truely "high performance" tires are meant for dry weather.

of course. however, the pirelli's i have worn out were "max performance" summer tires, and performed just fine in the rain for my purposes... they weren't an autocross-type tire though; more like what i'd consider a summer autobahn tire

The 615s are much better than the 215s in every aspect. I am yet to hear a bad thing about them in the wet. Some people use them as wet auto-x tires. I have driven them dry and wet and like them in both conditions.
It's the 215s that have a bad rep in the wet; then again you shouldn't really be going more than 65mph through deep oceans of water on the highway. My 2 cents :D

The RT-215's and even moreso the RT-615's have just about the best wet traction out there. Seriously, I've seen the auto-x and track times to prove it.

Now, standing water is another story. Keep the speed under control once they wear past 5/32 or so. Before that, and you're fine.

Yeah, but what tire is great in standing water? Not to many, and you don't want to be driving through standing water, no matter what tires you have.

sounds good. pretty much the only standing water i ever drive through is either in parking lots where i'm going slow or the drainoff on the side of residential streets. sounds like these should be great for me :)

cliffs notes: no falkens for J this season.

It figures. after all that, the dealer started jacking me around.. they were supposed to be in tuesday so i swapped my bald summer wheels/tires onto the car to save carrying a set in the trunk. Tuesday I call the shop, they dont have them yet... so wednesday I call, still no luck.

The guy then tells me, "oh, I'm sorry I forgot to call you, they *might* be in next wednesday... they're on national backorder and I just barely managed to find you a set" (even though most online stores have 'em in stock). All this while hes already been paid.

When i asked for my money back, he scrambled to try to keep my business, so he gave me a price on R-S2s (which he has in stock at warehouse) that i couldn't walk away from. If this doesn't go as stated i'm going to be very upset... Keeping me off the market of competitors while hes got my $, thats some seriously bad business.
