Doesn't make a lick of sense to me.

Think about your coilovers. 16" wheels touch the strut pretty damn far below the stock perch point, you'd have to shorten the tube A LOT to place the wheel line at the springs (above the perch even). That seems too far to even be safe.

Yeah, that's what I figured too. I could see cut down perches giving added tire clearance but not in this case because he has weeny tires anyway.
