15x7 BBS factory weaves that have seen better days, need advice

First, the back story. A few years after buying the E30 in '87, my Dad picked up these as track wheels (14in. weaves are on the car). After we moved to our current house (13 years ago!), he put them away in sealed bags next to the shed in the backyard. He also had another 3 14in. weaves put into bags as well (the 4th is the current spare in the car).

This was the result:







The 14s look about the same, tough to look at, I know. How could I go about restoring these? I'm interested in DIY options but it's my guess that they'll need professional work. What would I need to have done, if they're not a lost cause already?

Aircraft paint remover/stripper, then send them to be powdercoated, it's what I'd do anyway.

If you strip the wheels down, use some filler and paint they will look good as new. Definitely not a lost cause. Lots of places in the area that do that work.

I have tried like 3 different kinds of aircraft stripper on weaves and none of them really worked. I had to take them to be media blasted

bead blast, they aren't in that bad of shape

How much will it run me to get them media blasted? I'd probably get the centers done as well so the finish would look the same (those are alloy too, right?).

As far as refinishing them, what are some options? Powdercoating is out of my price range, some google searches had people that were getting charged $75-100 per wheel...Not something I can swing.

I used Wurth wheel paint, it was a lot of work though.

Do you know the specifics on what was used when you had yours media blasted? And should that be enough to freshen mine up before refinishing? Last picture shows what I think is pretty substantial damage.

Heard good things about Wurth products, is it doable for someone with little experience? All I've ever refinished myself is rubber trim pieces. Thanks for the help.
