    Rear Wheel Spacer Problem

I'm planning on running 15mm thick/57.1mm hubcentric/4x100 spacers on all four corners. As of right now I only have them on the front because the back ones simply don't fit over the lip of the hub. The front ones are perfect - they slide right over the hub lip and sit flush against the hub. The rears will not fit. It seems like the rear hubs' diameter are a millimeter too big or something.

I took light grit sandpaper and cleaned all the surface rust and garbage off of the hubs. That didn't help either. Light persuasion with a rubber mallet - still no dice.

What's going on here? Aren't all the hub diameters the same on the e30? If they fit the front like they're supposed to, why don't they fit the rear? All 4 spacers are identical, all my hubs are round and undamaged. I have access to a nice lathe, but I don't want to modify something that's supposed to fit perfectly.

Anyone else ever had this problem?

where did you get the spacers from?

did you try to put the spacers you were planning on putting in the rear on the front to see if they fit with the possibility that the spacer might be the culprit and not the hub.

Bought this exact package. I measured the bore of the two spacers that don't fit and they measure about .002" bigger than 57.1mm, which is perfect. Something must be wrong with my hubs. They don't look mushroomed or out of round, so I'm at a loss here.

No I haven't tried putting the fronts on the rear yet. All the spacers are CNC machined to be identical, so I'm going to measure my hubs to see how far they're off from 57.1mm.

I'm going crazy. My hubs measure out perfectly. They're round to within .001" and have a diameter a few thou less than the bore in my spacer. The spacers still will not fit. It doesn't even go some of the way onto the hub.

After trying to convince a rear spacer to fit. Definitely some clearance issues, but everything measures out like it should. Sandpaper the hub? Machine the spacer (rendering it unsellable)?

Probably a bit of a bur on the hub. I'd take a file to it to clean it up.

It was. On both. Seemed to take way too much filing. Oh well. All spacers slide on like they should now.
