Has anyone made use of the 16x8 Rota Slipstream wheels from the GB?

A bent rim will cause problems, no matter how close they can get it to balancing.

Is the rim on the back? Throw it on the front and you'll drive straight down there to bitch and moan about a new one.

My tire shop took extra care. I specifically emphasized these are BRAND NEW rims. I brought them straight from picking them up, still in their bags and boxes.

There isn't a nick on em, inside and out (I checked the inner lips as soo as I got them back)

It's on the passenger side front - no vibes to speak of...

I heard from Jessica, she said they wont be able to break up a set of Slips, unless I want gunmetal (which I don't).

Just dragging up some of the complaints about the lack of lip on theses wheels, wouldn't the way that they have changed the offset give extra clearance for bigger calipers? If they had extended the lip instead of the hub/bore part they might have had complaints about lack of clearance from bigger calipers, not unlikely seeing as they are marked as racing wheels.

Yeah, they have a lot of room for big brakes, which is good.

Would it be silly/stupid to leave as-is if the tire isn't losing air? Would a minor bend produce balancing issues?
yes, that would be silly. it was new, they f'ed up your wheel they should fix their mistake period. yes it can cause balancing or hop/wobble issues depending on how bad it is.

Seriously? If they did concede and offered to pay for a new rim, do you guys think 18racing could sell just one? If this was a GB, they wouldn't want to break up a set, correct?

if they will do it, go for it. if they can't get you just one, being a hard ass wont really get you back on the road. just saying " well that's your problem then" isn't gonig to be the answer, and a properly repaired wheel will be just fine. if you get a new one you will have a matching spare though.

Thank you everyone for the advice. I'm going to insist the rim is repaired by a shop I choose, and I'll deliver and pick it up. What a crappy thing to happen to a brand-new rim... :curse:

I bough this car to try and simplify; obsessing over the wagon was getting old and I really want to uncomplicated my life and not hold material things so close. I decided to let Big-O fix the rim using a vendor of their choice (Keystone, DOT approved) and let it go at that - I don't have the time or patience to wage a battle over a bent rim. True, they screwed up and should replace the rim, but pursuing that end will only complicate my life even more. So, the rim goes for work on Monday, and it, like everything else is in the Lord's hands. I now it will be cool...

one of the companys we use is keystone at work they seem to do a good job. the only prob i have had with them is they have sent me the wrong wheel back a couple of times. then an hour or so later they return with the right one, i think it is more of a stupid driver issue than with the company though.

Hey Greg - cool, man! - glad to here they aren't a crappy company (driver error not withstanding) ;)

I think the reason that they put the bolts so far in was so they didnt change the original spoon design and it kind of had that dog bowl dish look to them.
Here are my gunmetal/polished with 225/45 r16s Hankook RS2s on my delphin 325is turbo. you can see the front is about maxxed out with 225s but on the rear rolling the lip you should be good for 235s or 245s.
