Damn, was I stoked to come home to these today. I desperately needed new tires, and when that thread was posted about Potenza S03's in my desired size, I had to jump on them. So I borrowed the green from my father-in-law (who is really fucking cool and way into cars) and Mot, being the super-fucking good friend that he is, even ordered them up for me and told me I could give him the money when I got it from the Pops, just so they wouldn't run out of stock before I could order them myself. I can't wait to get them mounted, and even more, drive on them. I realize it's probably not that big of a deal to post your new tires, but I'm just stoked as hell to have tires this nice for so cheap. :D

Nice tires. I just bought myself some 205 ES100s for baskets. Put it on my new Chasefreedom card I got with my checking account. How come you borrow money from two people instead of doing so yourself?
anyway, baller deal. I bet they are fast at Auto-XComment

I borrowed the money from my father in law because I didn't have enough to buy them before they went out of stock, and Tom offered to order them for me and give him the money when I get it from my father in law, so I could get them before they were gone. I didn't ask him to do it, and told him that he didn't have to. He offered because he's a friend. I don't have a credit card, and buying them with a credit card is no different than borrowing the money from someone, except that I don't have some inflated interest rate to pay. Besides, is it really any of your concern?Last edited by Jand3rson; 01-16-2007, 09:49 PM.Comment

s03's run wide for the size. i had 225/45r16 and those things were fucking massive. only down side was with a lowered car and decent camber, they wore quickly (corded in 9k miles). but they're sticky, and they have a stiff ass sidewall. a little heavy.
you'll like them.sigpicComment

Awesome, thanks Pasha. These are just going to be street tires, I'll be running a seperate set of tires/wheels for autocross, so they should at least last one good season of straight driving.Comment

I think possibly the poster was making the point that if you don't have the cash for bling tires, maybe you should get some cheap ones, or wait till you have the dough.I borrowed the money from my father in law because I didn't have enough to buy them before they went out of stock, and Tom offered to order them for me and give him the money when I get it from my father in law, so I could get them before they were gone. You brought up how u financed them, should be willing to take the internet scrutiny regarding your decision. I guess my point is that if you post something on the internets, you invite it to be everyone's concern.
Whethere they think you're a bum for not putting said money aside for your kid's education instead of tires for a car you don't drive right now or people who want to praise you for scoring some awesome rubber (which you have a debate elsewhere if they're undersized -- another issue).
You type it you bring it. Don't be a baby.
I'm going to curse this 7&7 for getting me banned, aren't I?Comment

My car has to have tires to be able to drive this spring. These tires came up cheaper than most all of the others I was looking at, and I prefer not to drive on cheap tires.
You are right, but my point was that it's no one's place to be making judgments. I never said I couldn't take it, either. People borrow money from their parents and/or friends all the time for things, and if they are happy to do it and/or offer, that's their perogative. I guess my point was that it doesn't really matter, and buying them with a credit card is no different.
My family's financial security is also of no one's concern, as I have a Roth 401k and savings in the bank. Again, my car needs tires to be able to drive this spring, as the current ones are no longer useable. These came along at a deal that was too good to let pass, and cheaper than the others I was considering. I simply did not have the funds available personally, and my father in law is glad to lend me the money.Whethere they think you're a bum for not putting said money aside for your kid's education instead of tires for a car you don't drive right now or people who want to praise you for scoring some awesome rubber (which you have a debate elsewhere if they're undersized -- another issue).
With all due respect, I'm not the one that continued to carry the matter on. So let's drop it, as this matter really has no effect on anyone.Comment
