It'll be extremely tough.Ok crazy fitiment question here:
I have 2 Merc Benz AMG wheels, size 18x9, ET23, 5x112. If I use a 4x100 to 5x112 adapter (dangerous, I know) which is 20mm thick, will these wheels fit on the rear?
I am dropped on Eibach sports and Bilsteins. If so, what type of tire sizes am I looking at? Car is a 1989 if that helps.
Thanx!
I have the exact same dilemma right now, as I'm contemplating putting my 18x9 +22 5x120 BBS' from my E36 onto my E30 with 18-20mm adapters. Because of the sheer height of the wheel, there is very little room left to gain space from tire stretching. By this I mean a 16x9 +3 wheel can easily fit with a fender roll and 205/45 tires, but once you add 2" more wheel...it gets TOUGH.
I wouldn't try it, unless you're willing to either a) invest in flaring or b) give up without being mad.Comment

The front can easily handle 225/45s without any modification, however, the rear will be much more difficult. Your maximum there would be 215/45/16, so you may want to just use that size all around.Okay I have one. The car is a 90 325is with GC coils, front camber/casterplates and IE weld in rear camber toe kit. Fenders and quarters are not rolled.
The wheels I want to fit are:
Front
7.5x16 et27 I currently run a 3mm spacer to clear my Massive street kit, not sure if I would need it with these wheels.
Rear
9x16 et21
What tire sizes am I looking at running to make these fit? Will I need spacers front or rear?
If you're willing to crank up the rear camber (read: more negative than stock) you could do the 225/45 all around though.Comment

I didn't ignore your other q's, just noticed this as I was replying to the first and decided to just reply here.little update, I ended up having to go with 215/40/16 up front, which happens to be exact same OD as the 245/35s in back. Only problems will be more drastic stagger and stretching 215s on an 8.5" wheel.
I'm still looking for a better fitment option for my next set of tires if anyone has any suggestions.
Keeping the OD's the same was a smart move. For your next setup I'd just run 225/45/16 all around.Comment

You're at the maximum for that wheel without fender modification.I have some Kopi Alpina reps 17x7.5 ET20 which are stretching 215/40/R17 tires. I bought them needing new tires, I'm hoping I can do 225/40/R17 because I really don't like stretch.
No fender pulls or rolls, car is a little lower than usual, but not much. Doesn't rub anything as is. Might have some clearance issues in the front I'm guessing with that plastic shroud, but I could just take it off.
If bigger tires won't happen without rolls, pulls, spacers, then I guess I'll stick with the 215s.
What do you guys think?
A nice broad 215/40 should remove any stretch. Look for wider section widths of perhaps 8.7"+.Comment

15x8 ET 20, 225/50
Late model, I'm asking for a serious roll/pull aren't I?

I want them to be as flush as possible. I did some measuring when you were gone and I think et18 is going to just clear. Worst case scenerio I'll just trim the trailing arm a little. ;)Byron

Really? Damn I would have thought that with that offset 225's would be be easy in the rear. How much camber are we talking about? Would rolling the rear fender lips help. The front can easily handle 225/45s without any modification, however, the rear will be much more difficult. Your maximum there would be 215/45/16, so you may want to just use that size all around.
If you're willing to crank up the rear camber (read: more negative than stock) you could do the 225/45 all around though.
I was hoping for at least a 225 in the rear, 215's on a 9'' rim will have a fair bit of stretch will they not?Comment

Could I get away with a 215/45 or is 215/40 my best bet? 215/45 is just over 10mm larger sidewall than 215/40, too much?sigpicComment

Yup, I'd say you're on the mark. I usually leave a few mm to be safe in my quotes, just to make up for tires with large curb protectors and the likeComment
