205/50. No rolling needed.
if the height of the tire is concern, the 205/50's would be tallest of the 3 options. however, if width is the issue i understand why you recommend 205... but id really like to get at least 215's so the tires aren't stretching.
205/50 diameter (wheel+tire) = 611.4mm
215/45 diameter (wheel+tire) = 599.4mm
225/45 diameter (wheel+tire) = 608mm
So the question: is width the fit concern? can i fit 215/45s?98 M3/4/5

Well the wheels I ordered wont be in on the time frame I need them in so I am off to hunt for something else as well. I ran across these today and wanted to see what it would take to run these wheels on a 1991 318is? on factory 4 lug?
Here are the specs from the guy selling them:
Wheels- ARE 398
Specs- 17x9.5
5x120.7
offset- seller is saying +56 E30SPDFRK says they may be +38
I know I would need adapters but my question is how much poke will that give me? Is it possible to run these? what adapters would I need to clear my shock and not have some crazy mexi poke go on.
Thanks,Last edited by thirdlobe; 10-11-2012, 09:34 AM.

Here is my friend Jeff's car with 16x9.5 all around. He was running et3 up front and et-2 in the back with 205/45's. The front wheel was about 2mm off the strut housing, so what you see is about the minimum amount of poke without getting camber plates.
The rear had plenty of room left on the inside, we just had it poking so that it matched the front better.Byron

1. Is this a direct fit?
2. Can I go bigger with tire size without rolling fenders - say 225/50/15?
3. With the 15" wheels, do I need to buy new lug bolts and if so, what size? Any good places to buy lug bolts?

Now that ive done some more research, and according to tirerack.com, seems like 205's are too narrow for 8 inch wide rims. Tire rack lists 215 as the minimum for 8inch wheels. 215/45 or maybe even 225/45 seems like the way to go.

Thanks,
Coilovers with relatively high spring rates (500/700, etc)
Front and rear fender rolling
215/40 tires
Front camber plates dialed to about -3.5
The final front offset would need to be +6 at the highest. For the rear you can get away with +26 but you would want the offset to at least be the same as the fronts if not lower in order to look right. It will poke quite a bit, but can be functional if you get everything just right.

hey mate, so i asked about what wheels would fit my e30.
you said 16x8 et25 will be fine.
i went and got these wheels that are 16x8 et0 as they looked amazing and at a really good price!
however, the front has way too much poke.. (approx 35mm outside the fender).. the rear is pretty much fine (little bit of poke which looks nice )
what are my options? if i have any?
