I am planning on buying some soon. www.toxicrides.com has a set of lightweight black locks. They did a spotlight on them in p. bmw. -
Um no, :finger:
Well obviously it doesn't because that is how long the bolts stick out the back of the stock bottlecaps.Last edited by joshh; 03-13-2007, 10:52 AM.Leave a comment:

Thanks for the reply backtrail.
I was just looking at the 80mm of threads and thinking they were ready to eat some paint.Leave a comment:

Well you just line up the wheel with the studs and put it on, instead of setting it on the hubcentric lip. Its way easier. You shouldn't damage anything unless you are very careless. BMW used to use studs... my 2002 has them. :PLeave a comment:

I bet it is - but my knowledge is limited to bimmers, so that doesn't really answer the question for me (sorry)Leave a comment:

Is it posiable to damage the paint in the wheel holes if you get careless putting a rim on?Leave a comment:

uhm, way to basically restate what I already said. you were confused...Confused, no. I never said the hub was 1" thick but I did expect it to be more than 6-7 threads deep...which it is, now that I had a chance to look.
And the wheel has everything to do with how many threads go into the hub. Different wheels have different thicknesses from the bolt mounting areaon the wheel to the hub mounting surface. Obviously this doesn't apply to studs.Leave a comment:

If the inner threaded part of the stud would be an inch long, it would most likely hit the e-brake mechanism(or the actual brake mechanism with drum brake e30's), whichwould be disasterous.Leave a comment:

you are very, very confused. the hub isn't even 1" thick.. so I don't know how you'd get 1" of threads into it. and the wheel has nothing to do with how many threads go into the hub (with studs, anyway).
I just ordered a set.. I don't need the really long ones, but you can't beat $50 for a whole set at the stock length. I'm looking forward to changing wheels every weekend now :D

I realise that but the thickness of the wheel will determine how many threads go into the hub. The bottlecaps and the stock bolts have about 1" of threads that go into the hub.
Even the SCCA requires 8 threads.
I'm sure it will be fine....I hope.;) If BigD isn't worried about it, then I have no reason to worry for him.

I am purchasing the 80mm with the black nuts.
Does anyone sell black nuts with locks on them? I dont want my stuff to get stolen in the great Ohio cityLeave a comment:

The threads dont go into the wheel. The lug stud gos through the wheel, then a spacer if one is present, then through the brake rotor. Not threading into any of the above, then finally threading into the hub/flange. I have a brand new set sitting next to me. 5 thread lines. Oh yeah, these are m3 ones too.
