    will 245/40/16 work well on a e30?

rolled fenders and mounted on 8" wide wheels. my problem is i cant find a proper tire size. i want to run that particular size since it doesn't throw the speedo off by much (1.14% fast), but can't find tires in that size. what is the widest one can safely go on a 8" rim?

I would just run a 225/45 r16. Unless you have a HIGH HP Turbo or S50 swap, you really don't need any more tire than that.

this is my plan, and still for the fronts... but i like the appearance of some meaty looking tires in the rear. picture the view of the back of an e30, with fat rubber...

I was about to ask you where you found such a tire - then I clicked on the thread and read it.

225's are a lot for an E30, unless it has more than 200whp. And it DOES look beefy.

And that's with a 7" wide wheel. 225's on 8" wheels look downright intimidating (I was just admiring my friend's 16x8 Rotas on his car last week).

Who makes it? I run a 225/40 and it tucks too hard. I'd run 245/40 next time around (I'd need a small spacer up front)

id still really like to see a 245 on the rear. that shit would look badass... anyone know of any pics floating around with it? i think alex runs that, but he has super pulled fenders. i think i will sort of give appearance a bit more favor over driveability, just a little.

No one does, at least for our market. Maybe you'll find something if you look off your west coast. They have cool things like 235/40/15 Azenis.

Can I see a low rear shot of an e30 runnin 235s?

There are no 235 16" tires either, before you get excited.

225 is the widest it gets with 16" wheels and E30s, without heavy fender massaging.

just for fun - my WRX with 255's (stock fenders, no rolling)

I like wide and I like to push the limits...I like stretched on certain rides, depending on the overall look, but a nice thick track inspired tire is definately hot too. The 225's in that pic above look good. If you could fit 245's I'd personally do it.

Hot Scooby. One thing a lot of people don't realize is that an E30 is a lot lighter than these newer cars running huge tires. A 225 on an E30 is equivalent to ~255 on an E36 M3, or ~275 on an E46 M3. And that size tire all around on those cars is considered massive.

I've got 235/40/17 all around on my e30. I can dig up some pictures when I get home.

I have 205s on there now, and I'm getting considerable wheelspin, even with a 3.25 diff. Looks like I'll be looking for a set of 225s :(
