I consider my $300/set all seasons as cheap.
$550+ for a slight step up into falkens is expensive enough for me.

I would hate to be paying $800+ for tires every year

I have had that happen once with a set of Uniroyals. I took it back to the shop they concluded that there was an internal split on the sidewall. Because it happened on the whitewall side and I had my tires flipped over, I would not have noticed the bulge.

In my formerly-awesomely-professional-tire-man opinion, Falkens > Kumhos 99% of the time as far as street tires go... Kumhos quality control must be a joke, some of the shit I have seen has absolutely convinced me that I would never, under any circumstances, purchase Kumhos (or Continentals, at least the Sport Contact 2) for my own car, let alone my girlfriends, parents, sisters cars... The two sets of Falkens that I have had were great compared to the one set of Kumhos I had on my car for 3 weeks, which was about 19 days longer than it took me to lose my trust in them for all eternity.

    Apex: I was running 712s, I concur.

Holy crap I thought I was the only one. I put 712's on my miata and the results were nightmarish. My friend put them on his e30 (against my advice) and claims they were great. By far the worst tire I have ever experienced.

I have ziex's and for what they are...they're great. The compound's pretty soft but I find them predictable and easy to manage near the limit.

To those who push their cars with tires like ziex's, don't complain...they're fucking cheap. Buck up if you want real performance and durability.

You got 1 bad tire out of thousands, nothing can be perfect. I've heard the same thing happening to every different tire made, wierd shit can happen on the road.
I've been running ziex 512's for about a year and since all I've ever driven on were all seasons, they are the best tire I've run yet. Must give a definate + on wet weather though, no more ass clinching when its raining.

I know shitty tires and Falken is not on my list. Nankang though, made number one.

General Tech 2000 is the most absurd excuse for a tire I've driven on. A friend had a set of b-caps with them--we couldn't believe these things passed the necessary tests to be street legal. We concluded that they were made on a pottery wheel in the back of a general store somewhere...

Great tires, if only they lasted longer.

Kruzen doesn't seem to know what he's talking about, these tires are known to have more lateral grip, Mystikal claims more than his current RS-2s. Yes they have soft sidewalls, but they still have great grip.

If you did have 225s, they do hyroplane i've heard pretty easy when they get about half life, but i've had 205s and haven't had a problem.

I'm afraid you suck at driving. And bald tires can be pretty big factors in wrecking too.

Kumho's newer line as well as the Hankooks are much better than their first few tires out.
