    Autocross tires...

I'm picking up a set of UUC's 15x7 wheel specials, et 25, hubcentric, for autocross and some track use. I can't use R-comp tires in class. I run CS class in BMWCCA and STS/X in SCCA for reference, so treadwear must be greater than 140.

What tires would you all recommend for primarily autocross use? I have heard good things about the Yokohama AD07s, Bridgestone RE-01Rs, Falken RT-615, and Dunlop Direzza Z1s.

I can get the Falkens in 205/50/R15, cannot get the Yokos in 15 inch, and can only get the Bridgestone and Dunlops in 195/50/R15 and 195/55/R15 respectively. Is running the smaller width tires really going to matter much?

Which tires would you recommend? Are there other good autocross legal tires I haven't mentioned for a reasonable price?

    Thanks!

Yes, the Hankook Ventus Rs2 Z212

I would go with the Falken's tho. I love mine.

Also Khumo is suppose to be coming out with a tire that is going to be "better" than the 615's but I'm not sure when and/or they will be better or not.

falkens are your top choice, and are a fraction of the price of the bridgestones or yokos.

hankooks are similarly priced as well.

The new 2008 entries are the Kumho XS and the Toyo R1-R. No test data for either yet.

The Falkens are the fastest in comparison testing, although the masses seem to be winning with the RE-01R. The price difference, extra width, and better sidewall on the Falken seals the deal for me, though.

Oh, and the Hankooks are slow.
