    Falken Azenis year round?

I'm debating whether to buy a set of Falken Azenis or 912's. They would be going on a set of bottlecaps, so 195 60(or 65) 14.

My question is that regardless of which tire I get, they would be sitting outside all year long, even during winter. Will the Azenis be damaged by sub-freezing temperatures for days on end? Will the 912's?

The reason for my question is that Tire Rack says cold is detrimental to the Yoko Advan Neovas and the Bridgestone RE-01Rs' compounds (and other "extreme" performance summer tires). Since the Azenis are in the same class of tire I'm wondering on their ability to withstand cold storage/usage temperatures(0-40 deg F).

    Thanks!

That's good to know. Are you referring to the Azenis RT-615 or the ZE-912s?

There is no way in hell would I run Azenis RT615s in the Snow on a car w/o traction control or awd.... they are pretty bad in cold as it is. A friend of mine who was using Hankook RS2s switched to RT615s after driving my car in solo2, and called me when it rained for the first time to tell me how much they suck in rain (I already knew that lol) compared to Hankooks.

They are summer tires in my book, not all season.

azenis aren't all seasons but as long as you don't try to drive like you would on a 80 degree summer day then you'll be fine.

I put azenis on the volvo in the winter, and ran them all winter (1 year ago). Very little snow action, just cold and wet, and they did fine. Better than the bald hankooks that were on it.

I run Azeniz RT-615s all year round on my bcaps... so far so good.

I've been through rain and snow.

In rain, it actually holds the road rather well, just don't expect any miracles in hydroplane situations.

In snow, the tires do just as good as an all-season, and we all know all-seasons suck in inclement weather. Mostly everyone in the US sees dry weather more than they do wet weather, so I would stick with a good sticky summer tire.

The only determining factor that I would take into consideration based on your own situation is the treadwear.

Thanks for your input guys, I appreciate it.

I would only have the Azenis on the car during the winter because I only have one set of wheels at the moment. I am going to Germany in September and will have to let the car sit outside. If I cannot leave it on jackstands for whatever reason(for a full year), I want to know if letting the car sit on the Azenis during the winter will damage the tires. The car will be moved a few feet forward or backwards in order to avoid flat spotting the tires, but the car would not be driven in snow.

From what I'm hearing, am I right in thinking that driving the car in winter/cold temperatures doesn't hurt the compound noticeably? I understand the tires having next to no grip due to compound/tread design during winter. For you guys who wintered the Azenis, did the tires' grip decrease measurably when it became spring/summer? Or were there no noticeable downsides discounting tire wear?

                    Thanks!

Good to know. I plan on getting a set of winter tires for the car when I get back, so this is purely temporary having to winter the Azenis. I'm not too worried about treadwear on the E30, since I've got a Subaru I use daily anyway.

The 615's grip surpizingly well in the cold and snow. When BALD.

+1, I had about 1/32 before the wear bars and drove about 1500miles through the mountains, cold, rain, sleet, then downpours all the way home on the highway.

Just don't drive like an idiot and they will be ok, but TBH if it's your only set of wheels/tires, get something better all around than the 615's, they wear out pretty quickly and are not as good as even the cheapest all seasons in the rain.
