    15" tire choices

Well, once I roll my project car out of the garage, I plan on doing some auto-x / DEs.

I'm planning on running 15x7" wheels.

With the myriad choices out there, what size tire should I look at? Is section width king? If so the Hankook RS-2 225/50R15 looks like a reasonable choice. Or, should I try the newest flavor of the week, the Dunlop Z1 in 195/55R15? These are impoverished in comparison to the RS-2s in terms of section width.

In any case I imagine it won't really matter what tires I get, because I don't know much about driving fast, and really, the tires that'll help me pick up the basics of car control faster would probably be the best choice.

Something not made in china. A sticky 205/50/15 is my preference.

hankook rs2 225/45/15. Very slightly pinched, look a lot meatier than 615s. :)

the RS2 might look meatier but the falken is a better dry weather tire ;)

I'd recommend the Toyo T1-R in a 225/50r15. I'm running the 225/45r16 in that size and love them. Tons of grip, killer wet weather traction, and a good price (~$135ish IIRC).

225's will be a bit sloppy on a 7" rim and since you're learning you won't really get anything out of the extra width, and 195/55's are undersized for the 318is.

Yeah, if you're looking for a sporty tire, I like the 615s. That's a good size too.

Wider tires are not always better.
