Just wonder if anyone is using 16x8 et23 w/245-45-16s and if so how much mesaging of the fenders was needed(ie rolling, pulling, etc.)? I have a 91 318i Sedan.
or 245/40/16 if you really want 245's. that is going to be hard for a 318i to move, though, unless you have some major engine upgrades or a new engine alltogether.
Nah, we're doing an LS1 swap in a 95 325is and I purchased his complete modded drivetrain so it will be an M50tu fo sho. Just using the shell. I'm just looking for the widest tire that will fit under the car that I can get in both street and R compound sizes. With an abundance of e38 740 wheels out there cheep I was tossing around the idea ya know. As far as body mod I'm up for the challenge just gotta come up with the right combo first then I'll makem fit.
I think that size might be your best bet for the most width with the least modification. The other options would be 275/35/15 or 285/30/18, neither of which are easy to deal with.
From what I understand, you'll need to go coil-overs to rid yourself of the huge lower spring perch, roll the fenders, and possibly pound in the inner fender a bit if you are worried about your turning circle.
Or you could go 225's on a 15 or 16 and call it a day...
BTW, you mentioned e38 wheels, I take it you're going 5 lug? If not, you can get 16x8 Rota's in et20 (see sig) for $585 shipped. I'm running 205/50/16's and am happy with the setup. I rub the inner fender apparently, as I have huge rub marks (may have happened during a spin on the track though).
I've got rub marks from my 205/50/16 tires on 16x7 et20 wheels. They've really rubbed the hell out of my ST sway bars. My solution was 215/45/16 tires. Do they rub? Not sure. Who cares. I have grip.
