I have them on my car now, and i feel the same way that mike does. I hate em.

It depends on what you want from your tires........
The Ziex 512s are comfort biased tires with pretty good wet handling characteristics, but if you intend to do any spirited driving, then they are not for you. Thread life is so-so and they are very pressure(inflation) sensitive. They are fair tires but not great.
I live in Asia and these tires really don't do well under extreme temperatures. Trackked them once at Sepang and they got real greasy real quick.......
However, if you still are into Falkens, I would highly recommend(don't know if it's available stateside) the Falken Azenis ST115. Excellent tires for gutso driving! Did 20 laps at Sepang with these babies and they held up VERY well. Tried them for Auto-X as well......Good Stuff! On the downside, the sidewalls are rather stiff but should do very well as road conditions in the States are pristine compared to where I live.
Hope this helps. :DComment

I swear to god, I don't think anyone around here can read a post.

Well, if you want something for a daily tire there is nothing wrong with the 512s. I heard that the es100s last about 10k miles. I dont want to buy tires every 8 months just to get something that sticks nicely. Granted they do make some noise when you push it hard. But what tire isnt going to make some squeal when you drive a corner hard. Normal driving these tires are really good. If someone expects their car to be quiet when you are driving hard, thats too bad. Ive got about 8k miles logged on my tires, minimal wear even with camber, have never had traction problems. Wet performance is on par too. The only thing stupid about the 512s is their 1 ply sidewalls. They are a bit squishy. All in all, i give them an 9 out ot 10Old and improved:

Could I compensate slightly for that by running a little more pressure?

Calm down now  ......Originally posted by EtaSport..... All in all, i give them an 9 out ot 10
The yokohama will wear faster if you push it hard. Mine lasted for a short period because of my driving pattern. Its not always about what you "hear." I personally know of 2 people with yokohama's that outlasted mine. Try not to focus too much on tire rack reviews and other people's hearsay. The true factors to tire choice will always point to the driver, their driving style and environments.
Dry grip and wet grip tendencies for the Falken vs the yoko cannot even be compared. Its not an apples to apples comparison. The same applies for the treadwear of both tires. Don't forget not to embark on The ultimate quest for a high treadwear, low noise, grippy in the wet & dry tire. It is one that will never yield a result.

Yeah... I'm not looking for the miracle tire, here, just something that's mildly grippy and will last longer than ES100s.Originally posted by e9nineCalm down now  ......Originally posted by EtaSport..... All in all, i give them an 9 out ot 10

what can i say, im easily impressed. These wouldnt be my first choice for track driving.. i just think they are 9 of 10 for daily use. I havent bought many tires for my car, so i cant put down other tires. I know that you cant listen to what other people say about life, and every driver is different. I get easily worried about stuff as well. So I try not to push my tires very hard because i keep thinking im taking miles off my tread.. lol. I usually get screwed when I buy stuff, but i am happy with my purchase.Old and improved:

i have yokohama parada spec II's right now and the road noise is unbearable esp in left hand turns. any sugestions as to something high performance summer style thats more quiet?Comment

^Kuhmo MX for you brotha. They have a more compliant sidewall for street driving. Air them up when you want to attack some corners and they are nearly as good as an Azenis only they have much better wet grip.
The Falken 512 is a fantastic street tire, I had them on my old Chevy. They'll be going on the 318 as soon as this set that's on the car is burned up.Comment

What do you guys think about Bridgestone RE750s? If I ever find some Euro Weaves I'm planning on these tires, anything bad about them?
Sorry for a mild thread jack, but it seems topical. ;)The BMW 318 is back. With a vengeance.Comment
