    Touring Rattle

My Touring has a rattle from the dog fence (luggage cover, big grey thing that sits on top of the rear seat).

I have added washers to the springs to try and tighten up the fit, but they're not working.

The rattle occurs because the whole assemble can rotate slightly forward and backward. I don't see any significant wear on any of the two mounting ends.

Anybody know how to fix this?

Yes, remove the cover or cover the mating surfaces with something very thin and isolating. Do remember that the internals or end caps of the cover can also rattle.

Alternately, the rattle is actually from the speaker wells aft of the seats or the storage areas.

      You mean something like RTV?

Something like an incredibly thin rubber tape or something else like that would probably be better. Think bicycle grip tape.

I wrapped a 1" wide piece of duct tape (2 wraps) around each center post of the removable cover. That seems to have fixed it for now. We'll see how long it lasts.
