    Swap Suggestions

    Hey all,

I found out that my e28 motor was seized. Now I am looking for a new motor. I am taking suggestion on what I should swap into it. I am willing to fabricate.

    I am thinking about m60's and m62's.

Let me know what is possible.

    Thanks

M60/2s are great. Most straight forward is the B35 though.

    I've got a friend who's doing an M70.

How deep do you want to go?

don't be fooled, slammin can take it deeper than you think he can. Looks are deceiving.

Also, i second the M60. Cheap, powerful, light, plentiful. The only downside is the amount of fab work that needs to be done.

I have also seen people put in M50s, S50s, etc although I don't see the point. Also, like slammin said, M30B35 is the easiest way to power.

I think I might go with the b35. I want the power of the M60 but not al the fabrication lol. I need the car as soon as I can get it running.

What would I have to do to swap in the motor?

Best, most optimal thing you can do is get a B35 with wiring harness and ECU from a 1987+ e24.

I got my B35 from a previously swapped B35 car that had rusted out.

Lemme tell you, B35 with a M5 flywheel and clutch, 3.25 LSD....makes for a rather fun ride!

I've got a 3.73 in waiting for after the Vintage....

Also, the earleir your B35 the better. Something with cylinder bores, coolant shit and what not. Search around on Mye28, there's a particular reason the early B35s are better. Can't think of it off hand.

I already have a 3.73 LSD, and I have a Spec stage 3 clutch, so I need the motor lol

I have a fresh b35 block, cleaned and measured. Pistons also cleaned and checked. b35 head decked and taken apart for a new cam and rockers. I also have a lot of the support items, starter, alternator, power steering pump, harmonic balancer, intake and exhaust manifolds, and other little bits. Let me know if your interested.

i am dropping in a b34. The previous motor was a b32 out of a 633csi. I had a question about needing an harness or not? Would I need the harness and the ecu from another e28?

The car has the factory harness for a b34 and the same ecu.

I'm in the same predicament as you rite mow (actually just started a thread about it 10 min ago). I wanna go big though, I love torque so I wanted to go s54 or m62 but I can't decide!!!

Trust me, I was in the same boat. Everyone wants me to go big, but I do not have time and the $$ for fabrication and all the stuff. I went with another m30, they are pretty torquey.
