E28 528e trans with removable bellhousing

What is the trans that came on a couple years of E28 528e's that had a removable bellhousing? I know you can use the bellhousing to mate a G265 to an M20 or M50, but what exactly is the trans that came in those 528e's? The guy says it's a dogleg trans, and if that's so then it would be something from a Euro M3's or a 635csi that they swapped in?

Fuck yes thank you. That's exactly what I needed to know. Apparently this 528e that's being parted has a dogleg trans bwhind the M20. If that's true then I'd say it would be a Euro trans that made its way over and used the normal 265 bellhousing to mate them up.
