My dealer took a 95 540i/6spd in on trade and I can get it for around $1500. Its black/black. The hood/roof/trunk are starting to peel. The ABS light is on and audio system has a few issues - CD changer locked up. Pass seat bottom is torn. It has some dings, but otherwise is drives sound. Worth it? It appears to have recent Billy sports all around. I was thinking of fixing a few things and flipping it. Is there anything I should be looking for?

I suppose I would have no issue parting it out. I would rather clean it up and sell it. Is this late enough to have the better engine block. I know there were some issues w/ nikasil liners...You say "Where are your other two cylinders?"
I say "Where's your other camshaft?"

'95 was the last year of the M60's for the 5 series, so it is probably an Alusil block. I'd double check the serial number, though.

Engine block codes above. It seems that in many ways the problem has come and gone. If the mileage is over 100k it's likely you won't have a problem in the future. One symptom is a ragged idle.sigpic

The Idle is butter. I wrote the engine number down when I had it up on the rack but its at work ATM. I would love to keep it but don't have the lasting funds. I think I'll give it a quick resto and sell it.You say "Where are your other two cylinders?"

Beat 540i/6es trade in that range all the time around here. Make sure that you can *actually* make it nice for cheap.
Also, if you're buying it to flip, make sure it has an alusil block. While it's true that survivor nikasil engines should be fine, nikasil cars will be quite a lot harder to sell.2006 GMC Sierra 2500HD 4WD LBZ/Allison
