    Going wide

    I´m going wide baby!!

I´ve been wanting to do the wide kidney conversion for a while now, but donors down here are impossible to find. That is, until now.

My SO´s co-worker mentioned that he has a 525tds that is going to the scrapper soon, so i went to see it.
I was thrilled to discover it has the wide hood/grill, so i asked him if i could get a few parts before it goes.

The body is pretty rusted out but the engine is in great shape, as is the interior...too bad.

This is the one that gets the new hood.

    I´m all a quiver with excitement;D

When I first got my e34, I was alwasy envy of the wider grille, I too, also wanted to convert. However, now I couldn't be happier. I've come to love the narrow grille and the classic look. Good job finding the right parts!

I'm not a fan of the wide grill either. Narrow FTW.

I wouldn´t say that i hate the narrow grill, it just doesn´t fit into what i want to do with my car at this moment. Besides, if i get bored i can always revert back.

You can´t say that there aren´t some really hot cars sporting the pig snout look ;D

In the beginning there was only narrow...

Then God said let there be wide with a chance of Hella-goodness

Too lazy to install the grill and have to suffer removing it again for paint in two weeks.

Smoked hellas look awesome. Have to say, I also prefer the narrow grill and will never change mine...but, to each their own!

I suppose narrow vs. wide is like Coke verses Pepsi , or anal versus vaginal... everyone has their preference.

I need to get it painted before winter sets in, but i´m currently busy with work.
Once that´s done i may call it a day. Government has become increasingly hostile towards old cars and are trying to force people to scrap them. So i don´t how much longer it will be viable to maintain something i only drive 50 kilometers a month.

Finally dropped the car off for paint. I should get it back next week sometime, exciting times.

Next on the list is suspension refresh, but i´m not sure what else i should do after. MarkD chip maybe? re-wrap steering wheel? lightened flywheel? window tint?
I´m indecisive lately, and will happily take suggestions.

looks great, i feel like the wide grill makes the front end look a little more like a 7 series. i swapped mine over on my touring only because my hood was a little messed up.

I think the narrow is more e30 like, where the wide is more e39 looking.
